    Hermie or Male?

I`m growing outside and have a lush bushy plant. I just noticed some male flowers which suprised me. I was sure this was female because it smelt from early on and grew bushy rather than lanky (which am i right in thinking males usually do?). I still think this plant maybe atleast part female even though it has no female flowers because males flower way before females especially outside. I topped and tied down branches which i think may have stressed out the plant turning it hermie. I have a small plant too which i don`t know the sex of yet. Anyone have any ideas, should i keep the hermie/male and risk pollinating the unknown sex (small plant which probably won`t get big enough to produce much by flowering time, if it is female). Or kill the male/hermie and hope in the unknown sex? A bit of a canundrum

Smell and stature are not sure ways to determine sex. Hermies show the flowers of the dominant gender first; if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck... it must be a duck.
Verify that they are indeed male flowers and kill it.
Topping less than 2 weeks before flowering is a big no-no.

I don't mean to thread-jack, but may I pose a relevant Q? *Hypothetically speaking of course, I'm privy to a grow where a friend recently got screwed and ended up with only 2 girls. She snipped the very tips of the tops, before anything more than a few preflowers had shown, and mentioned something about topping (hence why I'm here). Said it would help make up the losses. The 2 girls were a week at best into 12/12. So my question is this: will they be ok, and grow a decent amount, or did she completely screw up? much appreciated!

I was hoping to get Stinky on this, but thanks. I know she'd stress the plants. My question is that since she did it anyways, is she %100 screwed or will the plant have at least some growth beyond the top? Again, this was done at the absolute tip (just below the developing growth), about the 1st week into 12/12.

If that's the only stress you know about, and it's a normally stable strain, it should be fine. I wouldn't recommend just doing it for the sake of doing it, tho. Especially with bagseed or other strains of questionable genetics and origin.

Bah! It took me too long to get back here..... And you guessed it- Bagseed, though it was from probably the best schwag I'd ever had. Again, it's not my grow, so I don't know everything she's done. I know she LST'd them, and they looked happy for it. If it were mine, I would have tried SCROG or something... as it is, the damage is done for almost a week now. I just hope she isn't screwed...
