The closest I can recall was Reagan's Secretary of the Interior James Watt who didn't think protecting the environment was a very good idea because Jesus would be coming back soon to rapture us all up to heaven and it would be a waste to leave any resources untapped before we left the planet.

And I think there are some Evangelical leaders who base their strong support of Isreal on Biblical teachings rather than geopolitical reasons.

But mostly you are right. Most leaders do not base thier policies on prophesies.
