Hermied week 6

Almost half of the plants hermied on me week 5-6 into flowering. I can't think of anything that changed, no light leaks, no change in nutes - so what do you think caused this?
The buds were looking so nice then the lower part of the plants started developing seeds. The seeds are working their way up the plants and now the main colas have seeds.
The seeds were bagseed, but they came from decent stuff.
I've searched the posts for a week now for similar situations, but I've had no luck.
Other than reverse in the beginning of flowering, what else do you suggest to avoid this?

Hmm, good point. I might be a bit paranoid - I am a newbie ya know lol.
I am positive that there are a few plants with seed clusters and they are fully developed. I'll check tonight to see if the majority of the plants have seeds or if its the fem's calyx.
If you were to open the calyx what would you see? How would it look in comparison to a developing seed?
I'll take a few macro pics later tonight.

Use Reverse by DutchMaster. How can you be so sure you don't have a light leak?

When I turn the lights off every 12hrs Ive stood inside the room and there have been no light leaks. It takes about 30 seconds for my eyes to really adjust, and no light leaks.
The plants have a decent amount of trichs now it would be a shame to toss the hermies. Other than trying to smoke the seedy stuff, does anyone have any suggestions for other uses?

It looks like its getting close to harvest. No big thing. If your only growing one plant its fine plus you should end up with some feminized seeds.
The most common cause for hermie is heat stress.

You say it came from a bag of decent stuff? There's your problem. Hermi plants are genetically predisposed to become hermi under a certain level of stress; if your plant hermed under a rather low level of stress, you can assume that its offspring will do the same. Take that back a step and assume that a commercial grower is providing adequate conditions for his plants, plants that go hermi are unusually weak genetics in terms of resistance to stress without herming, and any seeds resulting from a hermi pollenation in his garden are therefore suspect. You see that they have performed badly in yours.

There's no reason not to de-seed the finished product and smoke it, just THROW AWAY those seeds!!! If you are too pissed off to de-seed the bud, try cannabutter. Instructions stickied in 'edibles'. But most of us would just prefer to shake out the seeds and smoke it

Thanks, I will toss those seeds. I'll have DM Reverse ready for the next time.
I just looked closer and almost the indica/sativa mixes have seeds. The pure sativas seem seedless so far, but they have several more weeks to go. What a heartbreaker just a few weeks b4 harvest. I had been watching them so closely and this just pops up.
Looks like I'll have plenty of cannabutter.... that should make for a fun Thanksgiving dinner. :eat:

Are you sure you aren't confusing 'seeds' with the female calyxs'?
Calyxes have a couple of pistols (hairs) shooting out of the pointy end. (a highly technical botanical term) Seeds dont.
Male parts (nanners) generally grow in small bunches (like bunches of grapes) at the internodes, or in the buds. No hairs.
