My Hashberry/Mango grow
Thanks for all the intrest people. I have had great luck with 20/4. I have a few quick reasons for this.
A) Giving a plant 24 hours of light is rediculous. How you can expect anything but stress effects I dont know. It grows naturally in 14-18 hours of light, also using moonlight as i am told. 20 hours is even pushing it, but I have found it to be the cycle with the most veg growth with ANY strain.
B) I am sure your ballast would not appreciate it either. I have heard to set timer to 23.75 hrs, giving your ballast cooling time. Again rediculous. If you think as hot as it gets a 15 min cooldown is helpfull, think again. If anything it is very hurtfull.
C) Energy. If you pay for it, you are wasting it.
D) This I have no proof of but i am told Co2 processing slows greatly in a hot, uncirculated area. And any indoor space no matter what type of fans/vents does not compare to natural outdoor air movement. Thus 18 is prob best for overall plant health.
E) Four less hours of worrying about any infered heat detection from the men in blue.
As for the flowering cycle, I will tell you what I believe. This is just an opinion based on some facts and lots of trial and error. Plants do their flowering in the dark, not the light. They break down sugars and other nutes as they intake the light, converting them at night. A 12/12 cycle is always a safe bet. I have tried 10 on/14 off, and got slightly less yield but seemed to have better potency and smell. On 12/12 I get a good balance. On 13 on/ 11 off I get less callax to leaf ratio (bigger/leafier buds) but a noticable dip in smell and quality.
I will take a family photo later today, so see ya soon.
