If you are gonna use a timer I strongly recommend a heavy duty appliance timer. Why? Cuz they are grounded for one and if you put too much voltage pull on a timer it will burn up or even worse set your home ablaze. You can find a good appliance timer from lowes or home depot usually. Or if you don't mind being gouged, your local hydroponics shops carry them for a nominal fee usually.
