    My stuff

As requested here are a few pictures of what Iā??ve got going on at this point.

This first set of photos is a mix of about 8 varieties. For more details see my wild oats thread.
Photo 1: 5 of these are BBxNL. The best one will become a mother, and in a day or 2 the other 4 will be put under the metal halide.
Photo 2: The one in the big pot is an AK-47 mom.
Photo 3: Can you spot the weed plant?
    Photo 4: How about now?
Photo 5: This plant and the one in photos 3 and 4 are doing the best of the remaining 7 in this patch. There were originally 9, but one was trampled and one was dug up. A couple in this patch just kinda seem to be hibernating, not sure why.

The first 4 in this set are whatā??s under my HPS, with about 16 days to go. No, youā??re not seeing things; those plants are in soil. Been meaning to supplement the 600W with a few CFL of the 5800K variety, but just havenā??t got around to it yet. In the middle is an AK-47, and the other 2 are BBxNL. The last photo is a few days after I ran a throttle cable up under my thumbnail, out the back side, and up inside the thumb to the knuckle. I highly recommend NOT doing this. It ranks right up there in suck factor with my ruptured disks and torn ligaments.

This set of photos is the trail to one of my outdoor areas. The first photo is looking at the trail from the shoulder of the road. In the last photo you may notice fishing line. This is not a structural attempt at keeping animals out, but a psychological one. The theory is that deer will not see it, but when they touch it they freak out and run away. Seems to work so far. Either that or the Liquid Fence, or the combination.

Hereā??s a patch of weed plants, incase you hadnā??t noticed. 3 rows, at the head of each row is an AK-47 (Iā??ve got my reasons), and the rest are BBxNL. The day after I planted these the temperature reached 103. The BBxNL seemed to love it, but 2 of the 3 AKs got fried. Luckily I mulched, and there were several little branches near the ground that were shaded by the straw, and these seemed to save the plants. They are recovering, as in the 4th photo. The last photo near the top shows the AK that didnā??t get fried, and a BBxNL at the bottom.

Dang, Opie, I'm sorry to hear about your thumb - my thumb hurts just from reading the story! How many 4-letter words was that incident worth? But, from the looks of it, you don't have time for pain, as you have a lot goin' on, my friend! Variety is the spice of life, and you've a mighty spicy life! All of your plants look pretty darn fine. What's that you have under the CFLs and in the pic to the right also?

Thanks for sharing those nature pics! You and zeb have a pretty good eye for photography. Is that a black lab diggin in the snow on the Christmas tree farm? Labs are some dang fine dogs. Be good out there, my friend, and I hope your thumb heals up right nicely!
