    Easy as pie carbon filter...

I went to the local hardware store and bought a WATER filter by pentek. Its a "Granular Activated Carbon Filter Cartridge". There were a few different styles and I choose the one that water would go in one end, all the way through the filter and out the other end. Some are designed so it goes in one end then out all around the sides. Sounds confusing, and it took a day before all my odors were gone, but I can't smell anything now and it was getting BAD.

    Its about 4" in diameter and I have 3" exhaust. A 4"
    >3" reducer made for easy adaptation. I just taped the reducer on the end and wallaa! Active Carbon filter.

With the filter being 31$ and the reducer 3$ it was 34 dollars, and took all of 2 minutes literally to make and install.

I can't open the space often so when I do its quick and GO!

    Ill snap pics later...

Hmmm interesting. When it's hooked up and working, does your fan push or suck the air through it? Also what is the CFM of the fan you have and how much is the air flow restricted by the filter?

one more question, is that a type of filter you can easily refill with more activated carbon?

That seems like a great quick fix for smelly situations!

Thats hooked up on the exhaust side of the setup. So the fan pushes air through it.

Less than 100 like 75 I believe. I can get an exact figure later. But it didn't change the overall temps of my room at all so it can't be all that restrictive.

Cannot refill. I don't know how much activated carbon is for enough to fill that filter. But if its 20 or 25 bucks Ill just buy a new filter. If its more reasonable I'm sure I can find a way to modify that one to allow for a refill. I guess we'll see when the time comes..

It filters smoke and everything. Makes the whole room smell cleaner...
