the media tells you what you like

I've been thinking alot lately and just looking around and it seems to me like people are asleep. just like progammed robots it's really sad the media/government can basicaly tell the people anything and they will listen without second thought and it's getting worse and worse.

People (especially in america and uk) are giving up their freedoms and dont even care or take notice

people say the u.s is the most free country in the world but if someone see's something on tv/internet that they dont like they dont just ignore it, they cry to get it banned!

the media can take almost anything and make it look evil

for example bud It's natural, God made it (at least I beleive), it opens your mind etc. etc. the declaration of independence is even made out of hemp paper!

yet the media/governmen has convinced the majority of people it's an evil thing

sorry for the rambling does anyone think some of this stuff too and some firsthand experience with it?

I've never even thought about that....

    Yeah, it all sucks!
America is practically a baby, and we have a lot of growing up to do. The whole "weed is natural" argument hasn't worked for years. There are plenty of "natural" things that can harm us. Ever rub poison ivy all over your face?

The fact that it bothers you shows that you are on the path to enlightenment. Most people live and die without ever looking deep and asking the "big" questions. It's a scary world when you start educating yourself... do you get why they refer to it as "The Rabbit Hole" now?

In the meantime... Stay and Keep

Warning: Smoking marijuana may cause you to over-use quotation marks. Please consult your doctor before getting Philosophical after midnight, as this may cause a drop in blood pressure.

Television is such an addictive piece of shit. I sometimes find myself yelling at it like a madman.... screaming "NO I WILL NOT BUY THAT PRODUCT!" then some ads use irrelevant kinds of reverse psychology and i'm like "that makes me want to boycot your shit!"

cable television... people pay money to watch it AND the commercials. paying money to watch advertisements! TV companies (local and network) are paid money to show their ads in addition to the money we pay them. There's so many ads on tv that WE should be getting paid for watching them, not the other way around. Advertisements are a way to help make services free for people to use which may include other drawbacks like censoring/filtering, but the ads get dropped once you decide to pay for full-access service... sadly it doesn't work that way with cable.

and that's how you know you've lost, as a species. paying for someone else to tell you what to do, where to go, what to eat, etc.

I don't have digital satellite dvr dishnetwork whatever they are, dunno if the same ads pop up on there.

I agree completly that the people are being manipulated, controlated, brainwashed, whatever, by the media... it became very clear for me since i stopped watching tv some 10 years ago... as i could see from an unbiased perspective, and so notice how large its impact was in my life, greater than i ever suspected... and this influence over people is so great, to the point that some newspapers sometimes put in the first page, together with things that actually matters, what will happen (or happened) in some very watched soap opera...

I also could notice how watching tv decreases ones brain capacity... when youre watching it, the brain is in a very passive state, without thinking, only absorbing whatever the tv present to it... and doing it for large amounts of time makes the brain very lazy, much like doing nothing all the time makes ones body weak and lazy...

The Media is an insidious Medium. This is but one reason Everyone Should Be a Skeptic.Investigate what you see on TV or read on the Net before you decide a story is True.

lol yep. I try to limit what I watch to educational types of programs they have on History channel, National Geo., Discovery, TLC, and even still yet I play an active role in watching instead of absorbing it all in like a vegetable... I debate with the TV and curse it, sounds like I need to be on meds lol, but I sort of critically analyze most of the stuff I see and hear and try to pick out the good stuff; It's sad but I've learned a great deal of things on TV plus it sometimes stimulates my cardiovascular system..... and I'm not talking about porn!

the media does shape us. its shapes our 'family values' it shapes what is popular. Its just a matter of time before our primitive minds catch up to our superior intellects and we start to realise what is really good for us. Humans are still young in the history of the universe.

They say television puts your brain in the same state as when you're dreaming/sleeping, and I believe it! Over-sleep is pretty much as bad for you as under-sleep. Ever slept for many hours beyond what you're used to? You feel groggy, foggy-brained, sorta half-functional.

This thread has really refreshed my hope for humanity; seeing that there are plenty of other people that get it. To think that, in these short lives we are given, millions and millions of people actually waste huge portions of their precious lives watching commercials as entertainment! "OMG! OMG! Turn it up, I love this commercial!" *vomit* What brainless sheeple we've become.

TV has the potential to put our brains into any state... Light and sound can be modulated to the correct beta, alpha, theta, or delta waves to match our brainwave patterns (brainwave entrainment!). The theta wave range, the one in which we spend most of our time sleeping, increases our susceptibility to subliminal messages / hypnotic suggestions.

The propaganda box is regulated by FCC shit. Government controls the types of signals. What are we really watching?

Just as an interesting note, in Terrence McKennas book Food of the Gods (which is about psychedelics), there is a chapter about the hardest drugs, and there he talks about Heroine, Cocaine and Television... so we can see what is the true role of tv in peoples daily lives...
