It's all in how you handle the tools you are given. Organics are very much an art; chem ferts, a science. Consider your approach. Would you rather follow a cookbook or add a bit of this and a bit of that? Remember, running organics requires a truly dedicated approach to learning about their applications. And running chems requires constant monitoring that the plant is neither over nor under fed, and of course flushing.

I like to use a combination. Some substances are very easily applied via basic chem ferts, while others seem well suited for organic sources.

Educate yourself on all the options, and choose one that suits your grow style. I'd recommend starting with a simple chem or organic-based liquid fert system to start, unless you have experience gardening already.
