dry-looking and weird shaped leaves
Hello all!
I hate to post a question without any pictures, but I can only do what I can do at the moment with high hopes for help.
I'm running a 5-gallon ebb n flow table with 4 plants and I'm using two t12 bulbs (hanging within three inches from the top of the plants). My pH changes daily as I use hydroton even after I washed and soaked them in 6.0 pH'ed water for three days. I'm using 2.5 ml/gal of the GH flora series (3-part) nute system and switching between ONE drop of superthrive and TWO drops of liquid karma each week. I have a strange EC/TDS meter that measures NaCl, 442, and KCl. All of the measurements seem accurate and my PPM seem to be under 170. I use tap water with PPM under 80, and the water in the res stays around 70. Temps are around 80 in the day (so far never over 81) and 65-70 at night while humidity stays between 40 and 50%.
I think that covers most of the bases about the setup. I'd like to note that the last time I used this setup, I used distilled water and NEVER used cal mag +, yet still had better results than now.
These plants are about three weeks old and are developing the 4th node. The growth has been excellent until this past week. Some of the leaves are arching and twisting towards the light. Some are starting to appear dry and burned, almost like a phosphorous burn, but the nutes are all under 200 PPM. One plant is thriving under the aforementioned conditions. Seriously... WTF?
Today I will be going back to my distilled water and will follow the guide from GH for the 3 part nute system. I'll omit the super thrive and liquid karma for this week and see how it goes. I'll also try to get some pictures, but don't know how that will work out. Any comments or advice will be appreciated, and who knows.... maybe this can be the beginning of a great grow log. Thank you guys!NoDrugs4Me Reviewed by NoDrugs4Me on . dry-looking and weird shaped leaves Hello all! I found the problem with my camera, so here we go! The images are too large for this server, so I had to use photobucket.
Check out the arching leaf on the first couple pics as well as the burned leaf a couple of pics down. What do yous guys think is going on?

You shouldn't be using any nutes at this point. The plants are too small and I think that is probably the problem. Also, ST can be deadly on small plants for some reason. I usually don't use it until they are much bigger than that.

NO nutes in a hydro system?

They don't look terrible, and will probably grow out of it. But as Deja said, too much fert early on will hurt them. At the VERY least, lose the superthrive. I'd stay below 300ppm total for young plants before 5 nodes, then inch it up very gradually.

Thanks, Stinky!
Now that you've commented, I'm sure the grow will be a sinch :hippy:
Everything seems to be shaping up and fixing itself after the res change. The change included 5 gallons of distilled water and 2.5 ml/gal of each of the three GH flora series nutes. NO superthrive and NO liquid karma.
I'm sorry for posting the pictures using photobucket, but I had no other choice as the image sizes were too large for this server. I'll try to tone down the resolution for the upcoming pictures.
OH! I know you should never intentionally stress a plant... especially a seedling, but I felt the need to get rid of the two burned leaves on the third plant.... with sterilized equipment, of course. We'll see how that went tonight/tomorrow.
Thanks again for you two guys' input. It's much appreciated!

I've finally managed to stabilize the pH of my res! I've set the EC to 180 ppm and things are looking better. The stems are getting MUCH thicker and we almost have our 5th node! Here are some new pics brought to you by photobucket!
Any and all comments are welcome!
