Getting rid of the self-importance is one of the greatest (and hardest) accomplishments of anyone. The ones who "indulge in the dark side of the force" are exactly the ones who cant get rid of the self-importance, and are dominated by it, so they do all kinds of evil only to do what please themselves.
I could go on and on, but i still want to make a thread only about this, and also i dont want to hijack this thread.
So, thats why i say its better to learn to meditate and achieve enlightenment before spending time learning psychic skills. Cause when one is enlightened one learns its real importance (none), learns that we all are one and one person is not better or more important than other person or any other living being. And after it, this person can learn any skill without the risk of becoming seduced by the power of it, without using it for evil purposes, cause after one loses the self-importance one becomes good. Not the (proud) self-righteous good, but the TRUE (humble) good, like the real saints and enlightened ones.
Wow thats really deep, I never really thought about that. Im guilty of allowing myself to feel importante.. though I dont think importance is all that bad like you mentioned about being humbel I think we should all feel worthy but its dangerous when we feel surperior, im guilty of this. When I was younger I was a mild narcissist. I thought i was better then everyone else.. they should all love me and want to be me and want to be around me because I was so much better then them. Over the years I realized that that's not only not true but I felt that way because I realy felt worthless and inadequate.

~ I was just wondering if anyone does this? Debate with yourself and pick apart what your thinking and feeling and why. Sometimes I would think of what I want most in the world then pick apart and examine why I actually wanted that. What are my true feelings and reasoning behind my desires. I just find it so interesting and fun to examine yourself and your psyche and true to figure out who you really are. I think doing this helps give you a true sense of self and lets you dig deeper into yourself and learn more threw meditation and help develope psychic abilities
