Saudi Arabia has most of the say setting oil prices for those who dont know. Wasn't Enron a big energy company? Wasn't Rumsfield part of that whole ordeal?

So let me get this straight. Congress allowed this war in order to use more oil? If that were their sole plan they would have destroyed every oil field in Iraq rather than trying to protect them. If their key goal were to get oil prices to rise that is...

So, the war was about getting more oil at cheaper prices which hasn't happened, or the government was trying to make oil tycoons richer by using more with their fighter jets and tanks...?

Or we viewed Iraq as a key territory to control in the Middle East in preparation for a war with Iran. That seems like a more logical deduction than a war for oil. But that's just me. My theory does seem to be gaining support though with the reports of Israel using U.S. air bases in Iraq and the sheer location of the country in relation to Iran and Israel.

Bicycles, subway, taxi, walking, and trade in for a compact. That is the way to end the war for oil. There would be no reason to complain if there was a change.

Well first off, congress really didn't know what the facts were. They didn't have the plan of authorizing the war for more oil, that was the administration. Congress was kept in the dark, and was reeling in the aftermath of 9-11.
Attacks on oil are cited as reasoning behind price surges for gasoline almost every day now. The US doesn't need to go in and blow them up to get the prices up, thats just the job of big players in the market whose speculation is everything to its stability. So everytime they tell us some shit about an oil reserve being inactive, or someone blew it up, or some accident happened...it is all bullshit to cover the fact that the speculation is whats causing unrest.
Nobody said the war was for more oil at a cheaper price for you or me..it is sold at a cheap ass price to US and other companies who are making millions. And they jack the price through speculation in the marker - just to twist the knife in a bit more. Their intent was never to provide the public with cheap gas! It is to get rich off price fixing. Because after all, what can we do? We're addicted to the stuff right? We'll pay anything! Heaven forbid a woman can't fill her SUV to take little Billy to soccer practice! That is what the bigwigs know, and the rest of us need to try to disprove. Quite simply, they have us by the balls.

Anyone notice its awfully coincidental how this situation is hitting its worst levels now in the last year of the administration. Just a thought, but I think we will see relief with the change in administration.
Your theory on the other hand is incredibly plausible. I have no complaint with that. But its again only one in a list of hundreds of reasons that this war has taken place. Some we know, some we will never know.

Bush created the terrorist threat as they exist today.
After the election, Obama can use FISA to put the traitorous bastard behind bars where he belongs.

Not trying to cause an arguement here, but just like Vietnam spoiled little idiots whine and moan non-stop while honest hard working americans are fighting for our country. They come home to Idiots who have no clue!
    SUPPORT OUR TROOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!
If not get the Fuck out.
    THANK YOU!

The men and women who sign up for the military know that there is a VERY REAL chance that they will be called into combat.

I can't believe the amount of people who actually say "well, hey she signed up....so..."
What a cruel thing to say to this man who was asking for some help in grieving.
You don't think he knows that she signed up? It is hard and trying for family members to understand this decision by loved ones. All the honour and pride in the world doesn't save a person from missing their relative or friend who is off at war.

And if she did sign up after the war began, then all the more respect to her for having more courage than any of us. Already a few have stated they would not fight.
Not agreeing with a war fought OVERSEAS is different than not being ready to defend your HOMELAND.
I don't agree with this war. I would feel just the way this person did when they found out their sister was being sent.
But if someone "rolled up the beach" I would be right down there to fight, you can guarantee.
There is a difference between the fight for freedom and the fight for ideological/strategic control of something
Comparisons between the world wars and vietnam are almost disrespectful.
This is not to say the veterans of Vietnam are less respectable. They fought and should be credited for such. But not agreeing with why they were there doesn't make you unpatriotic. I really don't understand how people could be so rude as to shrug this post off by saying "anyone who signs up knows what they're getting in to".
    Have a bit of heart.

    Extremely well put Nugz.
I would be the first to turn complete psycho on any invaders but I can't agree with the way our troops are being used at this point in time.
I believe the British military to be the one all other countries model themselves on and I am more than proud of our history in battle.
We apologise for the empire we built , I refuse to as I believe we didn't just take we aided too. The infrastructure we built as invaders is still in use today and it benefits some of the countries we invaded but it doesn't mean we were right to enforce our will on those countries .

The point of any armed force should be to defend it's citizens and protect thier rights and beliefs , it shouldn't be used to try to impose those ideals on another nation.

Oh, no doubt. The soldiers over there right now are at war. Technically however, as retarded as it sounds and completely moronic as it actually is, we are not at war. We are in an extended engagement.

Yes you are right that these people we are fighting do not have an air force, navy or army so to speak. So they resort to hijacking planes, kidnapping, chemical warfare, and any other dispicable act of war. They resort to killing innocent people that are not in uniform. Not getting paid to fight. That is why they need to be stopped. I do agree that if you sign up for the military, don't be suprised that you wind up going to war. My thoughts and prayers are with any American or Ally soul that is on any forgien land for any reason fighting for you, me, and or country. I'm sure it doesn't make sense to some, but like every other armchair Idiot, who is the king of hindsight, What should have been done or what shouldn't have been done is purely speculation. If you don't like the decisions made...run for office and then make the decisions. Then wait while everyone out there tells you "gosh, why did you do that when you should have done this". Well Sir, if you had all of the information you may have made a decision based on that rather than what some idiot read in the paper. So I guess I am the one who is wrong to support our troops and love my country. All this said I can't believe people come out and say they would "sneek to Canada". What a coward. I don't sneek anywhere Sir, ever. Nor does this country. Peace,
    Plantheadj
