Oh and PSteve, you are a twitt. I do however get a chuckle out of your goofy posts. If Bush created this threat, then how did he do that with the U.S.S Cole? Pearl Harbor? He must have started young....

I feel this post probably was not a good idea and was made in haste, however since this thread is so long now I feel I should expand some facts and squash some speculative banter.
My sister is in the Medical Corps of the Army. When she signed up for the Army I am sure her intentions were not to go off to some distant land as a target but to take care of the veterans here stateside.
She serves with honor and she goes because someone told her too. That's what the military is all about. Every last one of those men and women are not there fighting for oil they are fighting for our freedom. That is what they believe trust me. They are there to help a new democracy grow. Not to further our NeoCon Dictators evil game plan.
I just hope to god she is safe along with all of those others over there.
Now to bring this back to Cannabis. I really could use some advice on a strain for anxiety that will not couch lock me. Seems my anxiety is worse already. She only has to stay over there for two years

I'm really wayy too tired and have no energy to put any in depth thought into this, but something bugs me. I understand that we are at war and people ARE fighting for America. I totally accept the fact that this has been "the way," since the dawn of man. You feel threatened, you fight. Plain and simple. But I ask... since when is our modern world simple? For the first time in history we, as humans, have the capacity to completely wipe out our entire civilization in a matter of moments. That's it. Not like a big rumble and stuff falls off of your shelves... but you hear a woosh and then you, everyone you have ever known, anything you have ever touched, is turned to vapor. Amidst all of this debate about who we should be fighting or defending, I see no comment on the fact that, IN OUR MODERN WORLD, we can't resolve our differences with anything less than invasion and submission. We can not hide from strangers forever. Soon, with the increasing population, we will have no choice but to live side by side with all races and cultures... and the concept of "our neighborhood" will literally span the globe. Maybe I'm being idealistic... maybe we really do have to use force to get what we want.
In my opinion... fighting is what people do when they have no more intelligent ideas on how to deal with a situation. I, personally, don't believe that we are all out of intelligent ideas.
My suggestion is for everyone to take all of the time they spend on debating who we should be fighting... and come up with reasons for why we should even resort to fighting in the first place.
At least that's how I feel

The Metal,
I doubt your scenario will happen. I think World War III will greatly diminish the worlds population before we get to having to coexist the way you speak of.
It would be great, but we already have an experiment in world government (UN) and it fails miserably. There is to much violence in the world to even begin to question why we shouldn't fight.
North Korea and South Korea will not embrace each other anytime soon. North Africa isn't going to stop raping and murdering it's children. Many parts of the Middle East aren't going to suddenly be willing to co-exist with Israel and the West.
I honestly believe we will kill each other before it ever gets to that point.
If I misread your post let me know.

I see what you are saying... which is why I said it may be too idealistic, but I still believe it holds answers to modern problems. It's when people think, and use phrasing like:

We should quit trying to predict the future, and stop claiming our unwaivering acceptance of an upcoming World War. We NEED to stop thinking that whatever country has extreme poverty or mass violence, will be that way FOREVER. Think about it... every day, dozens of people are murdered in the United States. Women are raped and abused... children are neglected... we violently and unjustly police morality... people go hungry... should I keep going? We need to understand that we are NOT the model country that we have always been told we are. We are still an amazing country, but we can't hide from history anymore. The problems we face every day, although different, are just as difficult as any other persons problems. Would we allow another global power to invade our city streets because they were upset with our increasing gang violence? Or our countries drug problem? How about child abduction? These things happen in so called "evil" nations, (and they should be stopped for sure) but they also happen in this country. Are you satisfied in saying that America will continue to decline into chaos, street violence, war, and death? Personally, I am not. I know that we can change and be the great country that we desperately want to be, in an intelligent and peaceful way. I also think that we should offer that same faith and opportunity to those countries that we judge so harshly. I know I'm not perfect, and I don't expect anyone else to be either... but I do hope that we don't just give up when things get a bit complicated.
In the mean time, I'm going to Stayand Keep
