Strange problem
I am growing in my basement and its quite cool down there all the time, i was wondering if anyone knew what a good strain to grow in a colder room was. I was thinking something like a purple strain because they need the cold for the color or something but anything proven to work in a cooler environment would be helpful.

You can grow in temps all the way down to 45 or something like that i keep my room at 70 i try to get it lower but thats all the a/c will push and you can make som strains that normally not purple by sumitting them to lower temps if it is in there genetics somewhere!!!:rastasmoke:

Strange problem
Look for something that is mold resistant in a cold basement. That's most important.
I would never take my plants down below about 65, and even then, only in late flower to force purple. The roots cannot function properly in cold temps.
Also, in a cold environment, add EXTRA PERLITE to your soil. Trust me on this. I may have grown in a cellar at some point in my life... hehhe

Strange problem
Thanks for the advice, all i hear people talking about is these heat problems and im thinking, "im either really lucky or really stupid". I thought the first untill i tryed to start all my good seeds downstairs where it is cold. Now i think the latter.
Im actually contemplating getting something to heat the room because at night its prolly getting below 60 and during the day they are about 65. The tops of my plants are all normal color near my 400w hps, but if you look down a few inches most of the stems are a weird purpleing mixed with green color and im almost certain it is the cold. Thats what inspired me to make a post, usually i just read. But again thank you for the help.Judas, must you betray me with a kiss?

Yup, that is exactly it. You'll want to aim for 68 night, 78 day. Circulate air well so that the whole room is the same temp.

Strange problem
I am reworking my whole grow area to another room downstairs and i am going to cover the AC vent so its not as cold. Im going to try and make it so i am using the heat from the light efficiently so i can hopefully grow the strains i want to. Speaking of which i am looking into getting a white strain, cali orange bud, and power plants. Any suggested retailers for these types and anything else about them would be really useful to me, i am really looking into dr.chron they seem to be reputable. So let me know if im wrong, thanks.

AMERICA\'S #1 We should all be proud of this great Country. It is just upsetting that laws prohibit us from growing certain flowers in our GARDENS!!!!
All Pics posted are from a source who lives in Hungary were the LAWS are less Stringent when it comes to Gardening... \"I CAN NOT GROW A CHIA PET\"

I am familiar with this because one of my first Apartments were a basement. You are going to have a 400 HPS running as well? Have you tried to run the light with out any plants under current conditions to see what temps do? There are a couple of things that do not sound wright.
You want to buy a humidifier? That would create more moisture in a damp basement... Well that is the issue with most basement grows Humidity. Did you mean a dehumidifier? You will definitely need a Temp and Humidity Gauge to test the area.
I would set up the lamp prior to even having plants just to see how conditions may change. IMO I think you will be battling all the normal issues everyone else is during the Hot Summer Heat. Unless your basement is 3 stories under ground..
Also keep in mind each plant lets out about a pint or more of water in the air a day!!! Unless your central air is on 60 I can not see that basement going below 75 when lights are on especially if the thermostat is upstairs..

Strange problem
Yea my back basement is freezing cold, i relocated to another smaller room downstairs and closed the central air off to it. Most of my girls are greening up again but some still are to cold.
My basement is dry, and im not sure but i thought i needed a reasonable amount of moisture for better growth.
The upstairs is pretty normal, 73-76 degrees on the thermostat but downstairs it easily drops 10 degrees or more. I have a plant that seems to like these conditions and its a beast. Its 3 weeks into flower and it is just exploding. The others are budding but they never got shoots growing just the basic stem with single leaf branches. I want to clone it but almost everything is budding and cloneing a flower it would prolly die. Is there any way to clone a plant 3 weeks into flower? Like takeing the lower branches that have not budded yet?
This is working out ok for now, but i know i need to fix a few things before my next attempt (temps, humidity, strain). I will keep you guys up to date and for my next grow i will be doing a grow log if anyone is interested.
Your info is very helpful guys thanks for the input.Judas, must you betray me with a kiss?
