    Harvesting Pollen

I am curious as to how exactly to harvest pollen and then fertilize a single female flower/branch outdoors to obtain seeds without having all your flowers/buds becoming pollinated and riddled with seeds.

    Harvesting Pollen

the male pods will swell, then they burst open, then there are little yellow banana like flowers hanging, then those open. when the actual flower opens your pollenated. Its takes about 20-40 days for this to happen "mature" and you will have good workable pollen. You then use a plasic bag :anything that will not breath or have pollen come out or through the material: You then cover the branch and shake it good only on the buds and braches you wanna seed out "Do it in a non windy area no air flow during this part is important to help make sure the pollen doesnt fly around and knock up more then you want.

Now this part I have found to help the pollen from spreading to other branches or blowing onto other plants.. I will spray any of the branches or plants I DO NOT want pollenated. The water will kill that pollen off and make it not usable DO NOT SPRAY the branch you pollented just the remaing branches and plants you want not pollenated. Seeds may pop up through out the plant but chances are you will not if you do it right. I would keep that plant away from the rest of the outdoor plants as the pollen can travel in the air over a long distance....

I've already transplanted them once and I'm not gonna move my plants again. Its a bitch to dig up and transplant plants that are in the ground. All the stress and root loss isn't fun.

How about taking a paper bag and a rubber band to seal the open end on the branch until it drops pollen on its own? Or something of a sort to prevent pollen from becoming air born.

Also I have mostly indica strains. How much sooner will the male plants flower than the females? The attached picture is 8 days old.

    Thanks! :rastasmoke:
