1st, thanks to all that helped me get this far.
This log is going to be about mainly the flowering of 2 plants that I have from bagseed, they will go into the flower room tomorrow. I took 8 clones from one of them so I may add them to the room later after I veg them for a little bit.
My question is the smaller of the 2 plants is only 12" tall, but it is dense with huge fan leaves as big as my hand. Should I cut some of the fan leaves off to get more light to the lower parts of the plant? I am going to do a scrog with this using a 400w HPS in a room about 3.5X4ft.
Also I was thinking of adding some cfl's on the sides to get more light to the lower part of the plants, should I use the 3000k bulbs or the 6500, or a combination for flowering?

McDanger, you have some beautiful plants on your hands there! It's amazing what some bagbeans will do in the proper hands! I'm looking forward to seeing all of your little clones too! Hopefully, you will bring them to the party (this log) when they have grown a bit.

As for your questions, I would not cut any fan leaves off the plant. I've heard reference to the fan leaves as warehouses of nutrients for bud production, so severing the leaves will deplete impending buds of needed food. Now, you may try a LST - bend and tie down certain stems or even the main stem of the plant, which will allow light to reach much more of your plant's surface area. It should still do fine in a SCROG, I would think, as you will have many more bud sites reaching up for the screen.

As for the lighting, I am only in the midst of my first outdoor grow, so I don't know much about lighting just yet, other than what I have picked up browsing threads on this great board. Therefore, take this advice with a grain of salt, and research the issue (or, otherwise wait for someone with experience to answer your question), but I think I remember reading that lower lumens in a CFL offer more of a blue spectrum for flowering, with the higher lumen CFL's being better for vegetative growth. Based upon such recollection, I would use the 3k bulb.

I look forward to your grow/flower log, bro! And, I wish you every success with it!

Day one of flower. Just moved them to the 12/12 room.
Also a pic of my veg area with the clones and a lame plant That I have not been able to kill no matter how many mistakes I make starting out in Hydro using the "Hatch" method (thanks Hatch).
I put the clones into the aero system and refilled the bubble cloner.

Man, these things are goin nuts under the hps, I think I had 4" of growth in 2 days. I decided to get away from scrog and just lst them to gather all the light I can.
I have a question tho. There are some rusty colored spots on some leaves that I think is bugs. I have sprayed with neem oil and it does not seem to be getting any worse so I think I handled it, but what would it be? I want to avoid this in the future.
I really fell in love with Hygrozyme, this shit works great. I put it in the res with the rooted clones 2 days ago and the roots have doubled in size since then. I am a little worried about the clones themselves though, they look a little pale but other than that they seem healthy. Any comments or hints would be appreciated.
This grow thing really has got me obsessed, I started out with 3 seedlings and now I have 19 plants (3 from seed and 16 clones), if all goes well I should be all stocked up for winter+++:rasta::rasta::rastasmoke::rastasmoke::ra stasmoke:

Leaves, roots - McDanger, you're showing me that aeorponics throws off some amazing results. It looks like hatch has really shown you the way! You have a super sweet setup, and I completely understand your new obsession. It's easy to get carried away with the process of growing - the end result isn't too shabby either! And, you are going to end up with some ladies as fine as mercedes. Yeah - I really should stay away from the rhymes.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Yea, the only problem is I build one system then learn more and change my mind. I have an ebb and flow setup that I only used to pretreat the hydroton, then changed my mind and went with the aero. I did have to change pumps on that because the pump I was using was heating up the res too much. Put a regular 450gph pond pump in there now and temps seem more stable.

I thought I had this under control but when the lights went on today I see it is getting worse. I don't know if it is bugs or something else. I need help.

I'll post some more pics tommorrow. I think I have the problem fixed. My pH tester probe was fucked so I was getting bad readings and my pH was way off. It was so low they got locked out. I flushed and they seem to be coming back. Also found a light leak in my intake (fixed it). Do I start my day count over now? I can see no evidence of sex yet.(8 days)
    See you tommorrow:stoned::stoned:

Hey Jake, Thanks. I think I have to get ahold of Hatch for some help, the roots seem to get bigger every day but I am not getting any veg growth and they are really pale green.
I'll do that tommorrow too. (anniversary today, spendin it wit the ol' lady)
