    Singing and Smoking

random question but from one herbal enthusiast to another... do you believe investing in a vaporizer is a reasonable way of getting high? as a voice major, I got to stay away from the smoking.. I quit cigs and cut back on weed.. but ..I am coming to the conclusion I can not live without mj. ah, maybe I am weak willed but to say weed is one fantastic drug is an understatement, in my opinion. I made brownies the other day but the high didnā??t live up to standardsā?¦ granted, I was high for more than 30 hours but a drawn out body high is not what I prefer, by any meansā?¦ so I have been ā??researchingā?? and I think a vaporizer is the route to take ..but.. I am really unfamiliar with it. I asked some close friends and they have no idea, just what they have read onlineā?¦ it is obviously healthier but I need to get someoneā??s opinion before putting out the cash (which is a lot)..

    Singing and Smoking

Hey, Blazerblue, and welcome to the boards. I'm going to be moving this question to our vaporizer lounge from Feedback and Suggestions. We frequently get questions here about cannabis-related matters, but if you notice the sub-forum description, Feedback and Suggestions here is actually intended for feedback, suggestions, and questions regarding board operations. As you tour the site, I'm sure you'll get to become familiar with the sub-forums and what goes where.

Now to your question! I'm a singer, too. While I'm not a current cannabis smoker right now, I can tell you as both a singer and a med student that a vape would be a very worthwhile investment, not only for your vocal cords but also your breath power. Inhaling the vaporized essential oils/active ingredients will be much kinder to your instrument than whole inhaled smoke. It's not the active ingredients that irritate and inflame your airways or vocal cords; it's the particulate crap and the other combustion-byproduct chemicals, like benzenes, that are harsh as heck on your tissues. Definitely invest in a vape to save both your voice and your lungs!

What sort of vocals are you doing to do with your major? Vocal performance? Teaching/instruction? What genre of music? Just curious. I've done choral and solo (pop and traditional) work for the best part of my life and love it no matter what I'm singing. Good for the soul! I've had a rough time this past year because I had a couple of long surgeries requiring intubation, which my vocal cords have had a hard time recovering from. Oh well! That's life. Welcome again to the boards!

    Singing and Smoking

    welcome blaze!

A vape is the best investment you will make. I sing as well and the smoking just causes too much mucus production and painful coughing, recurring bronchitus, etc.

If you are not looking to spend too much at first, try a $140 VaporBros, they are simple and wonderful!

    peace

Definitely much easier on the throat and lungs. Vapor can still irritate the throat (THC itself is a culprit), but not like smoke, and avoiding the heavy hits (where you get a lot of air coming in fast) helps a lot. My lungs couldn't deal with smoke anymore, but I've been vaping away for years now.
