Anyone work at Resturants?
I'm thinking of getting a job at a diner, waiting tables. Do they drug test, and whats your past experiences working at diners, is it fun or easy? or hard and boring? It's nice money, paycheck/tips etc.

The restaurant business is a good one. Its a lot of work and sometimes customers can get annoying, but for the most part its a pretty hooked up job. Tips will help with everyday purchases so you have more of your paycheck to spend on other things. A diner seems like a chill place to work, well, as long as the other employees there are cool. When you have cool co-workers the job is much better!

If restaurants tested, they would not be staffed.. lol.
I've put in a good decade in food service and far prefer the other side of the line- the greasy side, where the customers don't sass ya.
Get a very good reference at your first waitstaff job so you are in a good position to get hired at a restaurant locally known for staff making bank. Diners are chill, but the tips can be funky- you get a guy sitting there for a couple hours over coffee and that's going to be a few bits of change on the table. You want your guests to spend as much money per hour of your time as humanly possible... if you get a table's check up to $100 by suggesting appetizers, dessert, that nice bottle of Bordeaux... more money in your pocket when they leave you that $15-$20 tip later.
Also practice sounding sincere even when you're not so that you can fool assholes that you want to kick in the teeth into thinking you are 'nice'.
(Sorry... been there, done that, grown a bit cynical)
Good luck!!

Anyone work at Resturants?
I have worked in numerous food service positions over the years... and I HAVE to agree with Stinky here. If it was a requirement that all restaurant employee's were tested, there would probably be 12 places in the nation to eat for awhile until they got re-staffed. Haha :jointsmile:. I'm not stereotyping AT ALL, just my experience. It is some of the most demanding work out there. You need to be nice when you don't want to be. You need to clean up after disgusting people. BUT... you usually get free food and the people can be some of the coolest, most interesting people you will ever meet. Holy shit, have you ever been to a restaurant staff party??? Yikes!! :jointsmile::rasta:
imp::rastasmoke::stoned::<---- what it looks like.
But your question, I worked at a nationwide chain restaurant and I wasn't asked to test once over 3 years. You will want to note if they have a policy in writing about getting injured on the job. Many places WILL ask you to submit to a drug test if you hurt yourself on the job. Hope that helped.
