Question About Canada

First off not sure where to post this, its kind of legal, feel free to move it to proper section.

Hi, I live in the US, I've really been thinking about moving to Canada and living there permanently, I don't really like the US at all... The fact that every country hates us, our leaders are assholes and all corrupt, our laws are bullshit, our crime is ridiculous, and we're slowly turning to police state; as if the constitution doesn't even matter with the shit Bush is doing. I'm hoping Canada would be better. Ive gone on Applying for citizenship but it doesn't really explain from a US citizen's point of view.

My friend told me Bush has an act or something that doesn't allow anyone from 18-30 something to move to Canada, so we cannot draft dodge. Is this true? If not how do I "live" there for the 1095 days required to become a permanent resident. How do I go about moving there. I understand I need either know English or French which i know English fluently/some Spanish. As well as be 18 years or older, need the proper documents, knowledge of the Canadian government, take the test/oath, etc. Has anyone from US or really any other country moved from your home country to Canada and became a permanent resident/citizen. If so can you give me any tips/clarification, thanks.

sounds like bullshit. Fuck any law that tells me where and when I can move or live..

I feel the same way,But not because of any draft,Im 31 and I have a bad back injury,but I keep looking at how little by little I get dissappointed in our country,I wanna leave andmy wife was thinking about going back home overseas to Tonga,but thats just worse.
So How would someone go about moving to cnada,I mean it sounds like a cool place to live.But Im sure alot of canadians are reading this thinking "awww sh1t,more americans wanna come to our land"lol

If Obama gets elected My wife and I both are pulling out our 4 sprouts(kids) and bouncing out of the USA.
She isn't content with canada, she wants to on another continent if he wins, but thats pretty costly.. never know.

Well,from what I know,canada seems cool,Looks like a beautiful place,seems peaceful,I know every country has its troubles.....but I have never been to canada,just from what I seen it looks nice.Wonder how th ej obs are up there,rent and stuff.Also how about the getting a doctor for my medical MJ?I got a doctor here and a card here,but I know that doesnt hold up outside my state,let alone an entirely diffrent country.

There are a few topics around on this exact subject for further reference..but for a quick breakdown

You must apply for permanent residency first before becoming a citizen. The website I realize is completely useless, as it does not articulate this clearly.

So, you go to the nearest Canadian consulate, or the Embassy...whichever is most convenient. Tell them you want to apply for permanent residency, which is the first step towards living here. They will give you a huge application form, you need to complete/submit/wait for it to go through. Once they accept you, they send you a letter, which you then file with your application, and other important documents--see a list of those here:

Once you are accepted you bring all of that stuff ^^ and your letter, and come here. You will have to stop in customs and immigration, so be forewarned, and "plan accordingly" if you catch my drift. If you don't catch it, I'm saying don't bring an assload of contraband and make your stay there uncomfy

Then once you go thru all the immigration and customs stuff..you're home sweet home

You can apply for citizenship after 3 years of permanent residency.
Also, to satisfy the requirements you need to stay in Canada for 3 years in a 5 year period.
Or it might be two. I dunno ask the consulate dude I guess.
Then you can be a citizen.

Also if you want to move to a Province thats booming go to Alberta lots of jobs lots of money to make their lots of oppurtunity....Plus the weather isnt that brutal there....
