Is it alright to smoke before going to work?
ya man, paranoia is always shitty. whenever i went to my classes high, i'd always think people could notice but later on i'd realize that it was all in my head. my opinion on this is get baked, cover it up, have fun, do your job go home and get baked some more.

Is it alright to smoke before going to work?
It's part of my job.
A typical day at 'work' for me can include...
Medible testing
Vaporizer demonstrations (Three different ones)
Posting on Cannbis.com and other MMJ sites
Strain evaluations
Answering questions like...
"What do you think of my first harvest?"
"Can you teach my grandson how to tell when my plants are ready to harvest?"
"Can I roll another joint?"
"Will you show me how to use my new bong?"
Yes I can. Yes you can. Yes I will.
I also use cannabis.com as a teaching tool.
I use the FAQ's here most every day to help people learn to grow their own medicine.
Now some of our other members are posting here too!

I don't smoke before work personally, but if it really helps you with your job then do it. However, appearance is important to customers and therefore important to your managers, and directors. If you appear stoned and the customers are noticing then it's probs not a good idea, unless you can shrug it off onto some other legit reason. But the fact your manager knows you smoke makes the whole thing a bit iffy. People seem to be too trusting at times (especially in the work enviroment), so regardless of how understanding your manager may appear the possibility is there that it's being used as ammunition. Like I say if you feel you can pull of being stoned at work, and have a valid reason for doing so then go for it. Just be very careful, and maybe think twice as to whether or not you really need that joint.

Are we talking a lightly medicated level or recreational level?
My boss pays me to be ready to perform any task in my job description at any time. So I would never consider coming in after smoking to the point where I can actually feel it. I manage a lab. It could be absolutely DISASTROUS to show up stoned, and I'd rather call in sick or even use up a personal day than risk the safety of myself or others by working impaired. One bong hit at 7am before I go to work for 9 will cut my anxiety down to a manageable level without any 'high' feeling.
If I had employees, I'd be RIPSHIT if they showed up noticeably high, or even hung over. Anything self-inflicted and avoidable that would make them less able to focus on working with deadly chemicals would also make me send them home and write up a report in their personnel file, and if it happened again, they'd be GONE.
Now, the dish washer at the diner or the chick whose job it is to water plants at a nursery is not likely to kill anyone by making a mistake...

I smoke at my work... with my boss. But then again I work at a diner as a prep. cook so its unlikely I'm going to be hurting anyone or myself from being too stoned.

Is it alright to smoke before going to work?
Yes. But some of my ex co-workers became lazier people 'cause of it. For example, they'd be too tired to shop for groceries or run other errands at the end of the day. Sometimes, they'd complain that they would just go straight home and take a long nap.

There are two questions you must ask yourself before you go to work high.
1. Does my job have the ability to kill or harm someone (including yourself) if I completely space for 10-20 minutes and look at the back of my hand....or the snickers, whatever??
2. Am I going to get fired for being high at work?
The answer to number 1 is the only really important question. Me, for example, I would probably die if I went to work high, because I work with elevators, which can and will kill you if you're not paying attention. However, you're scanning items and having people pay for stuff. The worst you could mess up is not counting properly or pissing off a customer. So no bodily harm done, no foul, smoke away.
The answer to number 2 is really a personal question. Could you give a **** if you got fired? If no, toke up, go in, enjoy, however, if you care about your job, or are in a hostile smoke environment, keep it at home.
