Lessening Effects
I have been using medicinally for about 15 years now. I have found however that over the years it takes more and more medicine to maintain the desired effects.
Whats the deal and how can I make it better?

The problem is tolerance. The more you smoke, the more tolerance you gain. try notsmoking for a while, then smoke. Good luck.

Yes... tolerance is the second greatest enemy of cannabis users... (the first one are the cops...) :rastasmoke:

What are the mechanisms of cannabis tollerance? Is it lung absorbtion, receptor overload or something totally different?

Our cells can be damaged or de-sensitized over time. When our receptor cells grab ahold of and absorb things like THC or other drug compounds, the exterior of the cell is making the initial relationship with the compound. Over time, from constant (or increased dosage) interaction with THC, the cell becomes labored. It is losing its ability to create the "handshake" between cell and THC. It's the same with how our cells react, over time, to absorbing proteins. Our skin becomes loose because, over time and from years of interaction with specific proteins, our cells lose their ability to absorb things like Elastin. The same would go for all other essential vitamins. That is why, as you age, your body displays signs of deficiency.
Warning- Strange example: Imagine a (recently) homeless man. He is quite energetic, sitting on the sidewalk, playing tunes on a guitar for people in hopes of receiving some donations. He strums away as smiling people toss him dollars and coins, which he happily thanks them for and keeps playing. Now... fast forward to 20 years later. Same man on the sidewalk, but those energetic tunes he used to play have changed to a one chord, annoying rant about how tired and hungry he is. His guitar has also been damaged over time, he is missing strings, and hasn't tuned it in 10 years. Those same dollars and coins are not met with smiles and thank you's, but a "Is that ALL you've got? I'm trying to survive here!!!" Our cells are the homeless man.
That's my tolerance analogy... woah... I need to go get a coffee.
