Cabinet grow
I'm embarking on my first grow adventure which will be within a cabinet. 60"H x 24"W x 12"D
White Kitchen Cabinet - Extra Storage Cabinet - Kitchen Pantry - Kitchen Cupboard
I luckily owned the cabinet so now I'm deciding on which light to hang in the cabinet. I figure 250w HPS would be risky dealing with heat, so I might as well get a 175w HPS to stay safe and still grow nicely. High Tech Garden Supply
What parts should I order for that light?^^
Do you think I could manage to grow 2 Top44 plants under 175w HPS using the scrog technique and have a nice yield?
Also, the back part of the cabinet is thin hard cardboard or something of that, I was wondering if I could cut out a portion to install this fan. NuTone ValueTest® Wall/Ceiling Fan - 696N at The Home Depot
Please let me know because I would like the order the lighting and then prepare for how to control the temperature inside.skitzo Reviewed by skitzo on . i think you could manage a 250 with a makeshift cool tube or excellent ventilation.....it can deff be done. as for the flimsy back board, i say replace it with something more sturdy. it will give better support to your cabinet and make it easier if you need to cut holes for vents.

I'd rather just take it easy on my first grow and just work with the 175w. That way I will have to worry less about heat issues.
I really dont know if I want to trust a homemade cooltube made by myself. Maybe if you referred me to a DIY thread that you have personally used to make one....maybe I'll consider it.
I still need input on what I should order for the 175w HPS light order.

i have not made one myself as my 150hps does not get that hot with my ventilation set up. Personally i dont think a 250 will get much hotter than a 175, but thats just me.

The cabinet is 6' high and my closet can barely make room for the cabinet(height wise). So, I'm going to stick with the 175wHPS and just mount a inlet fan at the bottom on the back(since it's thin carboard type material), and an exhaust fan toward the top on the backside.
What size fans do you think I should get? The fan on the back of your cabinet is pretty sweet Killfrenzi, I'm just not sure how you wire those to actually get power LOL! I'm sure it's simple....hopefully
Also, Sunrise Hi-Low Reflector Hangers - +$9.95 .... do you think I should order those so I can lower and raise my light, or should I look elsewhere for hanging equipment? I have seen those retractable cable like hangers in a grow video....that way you dont have to deal with a chain, just a wire that retracts neatly. (not sure where to find those)

CPU Fan I found online
Would that be a good inlet fan and exhaust fan on that cabinet with a 175wHPS?

If you get one that is 12v DC, just find an old charger of some sort that you dont use and splice the 2 together. Make Sure the old charger says 12v output. Also when you go to mount the fan it needs to be at the highest spot possible to suck out the hot air. Use I-hooks and chain links to raise and lower the lights.
