    Newbie Question About Nodes

I was wondering when in relation to Fimming or Topping.

Do each pair of leaves that sprout count as one node?
Or do you count each branch to the leaf as a node regardless of it being on the same level?

Right now i Have my first pair, 2nd pair and i see the growth starting to emerge from the center.

I see some people top or fim as early as the 3rd-5th nodes.

If someone could elaborate this more that would be great.

I did read the fimming/topping faq.

and if I top could i use those top clippings or fim clippings as clones?

    Newbie Question About Nodes

Top clippings make excellent clones if they are large enough.
You count each PAIR as one node, until the plant is sexually mature and the nodes are in alternate, rather than opposite, placement. There is a short period of time when it's dubious; while the plant is becoming mature, they are ALMOST opposite but you can definitely see that they are not in the same relation to each other as before.

    Newbie Question About Nodes

    Awesome.

    Thanks for clarifying that stinky!

I figured that but, when i was looking at some pics, and other resources i noticed some people do it at less then 5 nodes.

I was counting, and it began to throw me off. Especially at 3am.

    Newbie Question About Nodes

You can PINCH at 5 nodes, but wait to take cuttings until you have enough nodes that after the cutting there will still be at least 5 nodes left on the main stem. You don't want to chop the plant down too far; it's stressful.
