Scientists: Nothing to fear from atom-smasher
only those ignorant to what is truly going on and a few quack "scientists" fear this, 99.9% of those in the know, know that this is ridiculous. The chance of disaster is like one in 50 million or something, we stand a far greater chance of being wiped out instantly with a gamma ray burst or asteroid/comet strike. The idea that a mini black hole is going to swallow Earth as the result of this is just like saying "if we pull our lower lip over our head that we can swallow ourselves". Nonsense, preposterous, ridiculous and so on! For the almost nonexistent risk and the great potential of understanding the forces of the universe which could lead to tremendous advances in technology, I say it is well worth it. If the worst happens, well this world in its present state sucks so like someone said "Flip the switch!"
