First Timer Indoor Grow
Hello all this will be my first post here and im just looking for some critisizms and compliments. My setup is small im only looking to grow 1 or 2 plants and keep them pretty small. Ive always wanted to see if i could grow my own plants and ive finally put some effort in hopefully ill succeed lol.
I am currently going with the double plastic bin setup.I like it cause its cheap and was farely easy to make. Right now i have two 100 wat equivilent daylight cfls setup on my seedling plant for the vegetation im only like day 6 or so but everything seems to be going perfect. I have a small 2 inch inlet hole in the bottom bin and i have a 4 inch fan cut and screwed into the side of the top bin. I spray painted the inside of the bins flat white and the original color is gray i thought this would be enough but im going to need to spray paint the outside black because light shows through the bins and i want it to be pretty stealthy. I also need to make some small holes to run wires out of the box and get some pvc piping for the intake and exaust but basically just need to finish up these last little things and hopefully ill have a nice little grow box.

Theres a sub amp sitting on top of my box it reduces the vibrations from the fan and holds it steady

Im looking to get some feedback from everyone and see what you have to say about my lighting and setup or things i might need to think about when it comes time to flower and what ill need to change for that. any input will be awesome!:thumbsup:Satori Reviewed by Satori on . Heres what I got goin on with my stacked rubbermaid tubs.
I lined the inside with Foil Tape from walmart or your local home depot, lowes, ect... It completly stopped my light leak prob from the box itself. And if your gon spray paint it you should really use the Krylon Plastic Spraypaint. It wont chip at all, and after you spray a coat of that on, you can spray any other kind of paint on and not worry about it chipping. The Plastic Spraypaint is kinda pricey, arond $7 a can.
It looks like you have pretty good ventelation, but if you are growing stealth, you will have light leak issues with your intake/exhaust. once again you can get some ducting from the plumbing section of your depot store and rig it up to where the exhaust fan blowns into a 4" or 6" duct and out some flexible ducting. Then for your intake just get a couple 90 degree elbows and mount them in the spots you alread cut. I think you can get 3" elbows too.... Lemme let ya know that this stuff will only cost you arond $25 MAX.
My entire setup, lights, tubs, & supplies, only cost me around $70, But I am also using a 85cfm CPU Cooling Fan, mounted directly on top of the box. And 7 100w CFL's and my temps get around 78 during the hottes time of day and 66 at night.
Oh also... Expect your temps to rise a little if you use the foil tape. Thats kinda obvious though.... Foil duh! Retains Heat!
Anyway Here Are A Few Pics Of My Set Up. The One with the wires is to show you how I did the wiring for the lights. Just Match Colors.

Yea thats a pretty nice setup. I just need to finish up my intake and exaust and a couple other things. I want it to be stealth but i dont care if it isnt like stealth to the max. How many cfl lights do you suggest i have for vegetative and flowering?

ostexcuseme:question i know it may sound dumb but if you have i fan that sprays a large amount of water every hour or 2 would it do the same job as you going in yourself and opening your bin every time you have to water it or do any of you have a simpler way of watering your plants with out opening the bin just looking for a lil help before i start my project

I mean you dont want to over water your plants and i personally like opening my box and taking a little peak and giving them water if i think they need it or show any signs.
Im sure you could come up with some idea to water your plants but its not always the same everyday. Sometimes they might need more and sometimes less. Im very new to this also but you might be able to look around a little more on here or get some more advice from a more expierenced grower.

Fan + water sounds like a recipe for mold, and for damage to the lighting and ventilation systems. Especially in a micro grow, you can't take shortcuts.
