Grind bud or not? (for a bong)

I just smoke the way it is given to me, whether it is ground up or in big nugs. But i found the ground up to hit faster.

grinding makes it burn more evenly and quicker, but it gets hot really quick, and can burn too quick.

i feel that a light grind. one where it is enough to seperate the leaf from the stem mostly so that you have a leafy grind, not a powdery one then that is perfect, but either way is good, though still nuggety is nice though too.

I always grind my weed, more surface area means better combustion, whitch means fatter hits. I dont even smoke bowls I pack the bowl full and roast it in one hit, far more efficient then hitting a bowl hit by hit.

unless im with a bunch of people then slightly ripped up nug is preferable because it lasts longer.

I use a whole chunk of a nug, with what's left of the stem stuck down the hole in the bowl, and just don't smoke it all the way down into the shrubbery. I think ground weed in bongs burns too fast, ends up in bongfires too often, and seems to make more of a mess of the inside of the bong.

it's all about the ash catchers baby!!! they keep my bong clean-o-matic.

i always break it up nice and fine, then when i light it hold the flame right above the weed and suck the flame towards the weed to minimize the burning.

personally, i would never grind for a bong; you usually end up pulling a lot through, and like most people said, it burns WAY faster.

as for holding the lighter to the bud, i never do it more than 1 second, literally its just a quick flick. you get more of a 'vaporizer' effect, because you arent just holding an open flame to the bud and torching the whole thing...the cherry heats up the trichomes and they sort of melt. not to mention youd be sucking up all those nice lighter fluid vapors...:blueknife:

Thats exactly how I blaze, with a the bong, glass screen, and ground weed. I originally started doing it at home because I would take one tokers and blow them out my window to avoid the smell. but now even though I can blaze freely I still use that method because you get more bang for your buck.

i do both, if its near the end of a bag and it dry, then i dont use a grinder.

So here's my thinking

It really depends on the bong. A 3' bong would be a lot to rip in one sitting (usually to the point of illness) while a little corona bottole or 18" or less you use ground up with an ash catcher.
