"WE" "The Culture" "US" The Black Movementit's interesting that theres many different races of people all around the world who all look different, who speak different languages, have different beliefs, but at the same time can still procreate with one another. wouldn't that imply that we were all meant to get along and live peacefully with one another without any consideration of skin color or anything like that?

"WE" "The Culture" "US" The Black MovementI just feel it divides us more"as americans" when Black people distance themselves and treat others like "their" culture, history, life style, is any different from struggles EVERYONE goes thru.. and needs to stuffed in your face for a WHOLE MONTH.

The thing i HATE the most is when I read or hear "WHITE AMERICA and BLACK AMERICA.

"WE" "The Culture" "US" The Black MovementSeriously, the very existence of "Black History Month" is an insult. Its like saying that the black people in this country have only contributed a months worth of history to the world. We can sum up all the hostory of the African Americans in one month (and its the shortest of all the months too). There should be no black history, no white history, no asian history, and no hispanic history, there should just be history. All this seperation only serves to drive a spike in our conciousness telling us on almost a subliminal level that YES we are different people and maybe we shouldnt mingle.
I think IrieIrie makes a good basic point with the procreation thing, if you can copulate with someone and produce offspring that means you are of the same species, fucking end of story.

I feel like this pisses me off (a middle class white boy) more that it bothers most black people (or any other ethnicity for that matter). I asked some black kids on the bus one February if they felt black history month was an insult, and they didnt seem to get what i was saying, i guess they never thought about it.

I kinda feel like Im the guy who "doth protest too much", but i'm really not some kind of closet racist I just cant abide a double standard. Someone post about weather or not its fair to lable girls "slutty" and ill freak out in the same way.
Peace all (and i do mean ALL).

"WE" "The Culture" "US" The Black MovementWhile it's important to take pride in your culture and history, I think that we SHOULD as a nation focus on the concept of one people with one common goal, which is to live and raise our children healthy and happy. This shouldn't be a race issue.
