    Check This Out!!

Here are a few pics of the new cabinent I found earlier this morning. It is 56"x18"x22". It was black so i painted the outside of the cab white and just lined the inside with one of those security blankets from the Wal. Got a peice of wood from Lowes and screwed it to the back of the cab. Put a hole in the top right corner and used the old back piece as the new front door. I put a hole in the bottom left corner of the front piece and ran about 5' of ducting from it The exhaust fan in the upper right corner is a 4.75", 85 cfm cpu cooling fan from The Shack. I have a 250w HPS in it to set it all off. It gets about 85 at the hottest point of the day then down to around 77. Until the lights go out, then it gets down to about 72.

Now I have a quick ?. - Can I use this HPS for the rest of the veg process if I use the same 17/7 light schedule? Then 16/8, I do this to train the plant for the less light for the 12/12 period. I only do the light thing for 4-5 days then I go 12/12 until harvest.

    OPINIONS! And INPUT Please!

    Thnx,

Your cabinet looks like a robot. You should rig some blinking eyes on it.. I'm using a 250w and have about same dimensions. I personally veg 20/4 but unless you have a timer it can be a pain. Did that answer your question?

Ok so I just got a decent camera and its been about 3 or 4 weeks since i posted anything in this thread, so I figured I would update my progress.

I currently have 2 females that are 2 weeks into flower, and the cab looks completly different than the pics above, but I am using it.

I planted 8 seeds on 5/12: I only kept the 2 strongest Females. Out of 8 there were only 3 females, the rest were male.

Pic. 1 - 5th of 8 sprouts, 2 weeks flower, natural light. I like to call her #2
    Pic. 2 - 1st of 8 sprouts, 2 weeks flower, natural light
Pic. 3 - #2 in the cab under 250w HPS
Pic. 4 - Both plants in cab under 250w HPS
Pic. 5 - Outside of Cab. (Currently)

    Any Questions?

Very Nice! So your using the 250w HPS system for all stages of growth including flowering right? Looking forward to seeing how much yield you can get out of that space!

Actually I started under 7 daylight CFL's for the first 2 months then about 3 weeks ago I switched to the HPS. I thought about using it for the entire process, just change light schedule. But I was sketchy about the utility bill. But when I found out my 250w HPS isn't using any more electricity than a space heater. (My buddy is a Master Electrician.) It was already too late. I had already started the flowering. He said it would take at least a 1000w light to make a significant change in the utility bill.

But now that I am a Registered Care-Giver I dont care about the utility bill, or the cops or helicopters. Just people I dont trust, like people that might steel the stuff. Hell Its for my paitent, not anyone else.

Anyway... I will post more pics during their 4th week of flower.

    IM A LEGAL GROWER...... HOOOOORAH!

Nice set-up. Ladies looking good, too.

Just a couple of things from your first post...

Curious why didn't you just paint the inside white, since you had the paintbrush out already? The ease of use with painting inside with an enamel flat-white paint, in my opinion, far outweighs the 200 or so lumens (random number chosen, but the jest is obvious) gained by the reflectivity of the mylar-type stuff. Plus, the flat white paint is extremely reflective, cleanable, won't come un-taped and land on the lights or plants, won't rip or tear, and is completely silent.

Is there adequate airflow giving resistance to the plants? Venting cool air in, and heat out is good, but actual airflow increases the strength of stems, and assures no dead-spots. (stagnant air and heat)

Personally, I have two timers. One for the veg room, (18/6) One for my flower room. (12/12) My ladies go from one to the other with no acclimation. Whether indica, sativa or hybrids...they've always dealt with it just fine.

Yes, you can use the HPS from seed to harvest, but it's kinda overkill using HID lights for seedlings.

I didnt like the toxic smell the paint would've left behind. Not to mention the heat from the hps, only would have made it worse. As for adequit air flow, I have a 85cfm cpu cooling fan mounted at the top right corner of the cab, I also have an intake at the lower left front corner as well as an intake at the top center. As for cool air being drawn in, I have ducting hooked up to both of my intakes which are connected to a mini swamp cooler, which provides cool air and humidity. The temps inside the cab dont get hotter than 80 and humidity is always between 55-66%

The HPS is about 2-3 inches away from the top of the plants. I also have a small fan blowing over the tops of the plants to keep airflow moving across at all times. The only prob I see with my plants at this time is the lowest leaves have started to brown on the tips and fall off? Other than that they are doin awesome.

What do you think the brownig/yellowing is?

Was just curious about the paint, and am glad to hear about the fan.
Does the dye-off stay more twords the bottom and in the center? Not sure of the effective range for a 250 HPS, but it could be from not getting enough light down there to keep lowest/interior leaves and shoots going.
    Any problems up top?

Everything up top is awesome. The buds are lookin great and the upper leafs are fine. It might be nute burn but I been going 1/4 to 1/2 strength, so I doubt its nute burn. Ill post pics Wednesday night.

Ill try to get good pics of the buds and the lower section of the plant.

    Thanx,

i'm running 3 150w cfls on my clones (18/6) for now until i get an MH, and a 250 and 150w HPS for my 3 ladies in flowering (12/12), a blower, double blade window fan, and a regular floor fan and my electric bill hasn't changed a bit. Paint the inside of cab white, much easier to deal with, and the space blanket works OK, but it is somewhat transparent, white paint will reflect better, your ladies are still looking good though!
