me personally, none. but that doesn't mean it's not happening to other people all around the country. i read papers from all around the country, the patriot act is being used to go after people.
homeland security even visited some small toy store in the middle of nowhere because some lady was selling knockoff rubix cubes, and they were there because that posed a threat to national security, because it might have been copyright infringement, which it wasn't. is this what homeland security is about? is she a terrorist?
i know, until your house or land is stolen, until you're rounded because you're protesting, or you're faced with no protest zones or local martial law or maced in the face or tasered unjustly, everything's fine.
the patriot act, which i've read, literally destroys the constitution. so even if we have an angelic, loving government now, why are we putting the mechanisms in place for some despot to get elected and become a dictator...we are not a constitutional republic anymore.
Alexander Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago, an eye witness account by a prisoner of Russia's gulags:
"And how we burned in the camps later, thinking: What would things have been like if every security operative, when he went out at night to make an arrest, had been uncertain whether he would return alive and had to say good-bye to his family? Or if, during periods of mass arrests, as for example in Leningrad, when they arrested a quarter of the entire city, people had not simply sat there in their lairs, paling in terror at every bang of the downstairs door and at every step on the staircase, but had understood they had nothing left to lose and had boldly set up in the downstairs hall an ambush of half a dozen people with axes, hammers, pokers, or whatever else was at handâ?¦The Organs would very quickly have suffered a shortage of officers and transport and, notwithstanding all of Stalin's thirst, the cursed machine would have ground to a halt!"down with censorship! - http://www.ronpaul2008.com/

that's what the patriot act is for,'TO GO AFTER PEOPLE."alot of people really get their panties in a wad over the silliest stuff.
it's like that rumor about the govt. watching libraries.they aren't.one change in the way our government operates and people automatically start fearing the gestapo or 'BIG BROTHER"
there has been alot of huge changes in this country and around the world in the past couple of year's.people fear change.then they protest.the people who are so quick to use the nazi comparisson, usually the same people that have never expierienced evil.
seriously, alot of people run their mouth's about america being some evil power in the world, they have no clue what evil really look's like.from the safety of their nice homes in portland Oregon, maybe san francisco.i find it hillarious.\"even if one takes every reefer madness allegation of the prohibitionists at face value, marijuana prohibition has done far more harm to far more people than marijuana ever could.\"

amsterdam, have you read the Patriot act?
It is no rumor, LEO can view your library, medical and credit card records without anyone having to know about it.

It extends the legal definition of a 'terroist' and 'chemical and biological weapons' so that crimes that would have originally resulted in a few months or years in prison could get you life.

i have read quite a bit of it,but no,not the entire thing.i know you will think i am crazy, but it dosen't bother me to much.and to be somewhat fair here, the aclu does take on noble causes but i think they don't look out for our country at all.i am not at all saying they are bad people but they fight for alot of stupid causes.i mean seriously, suing Rummy?i have read alot of the going's on at Gitmo and Abu Ghraib and i don't think any of that is torture.we should be allowed to do alot more.

Well that proves nothing, it's like offering an award for disproving the alleged existence of God. It won't work because under Popperian science these are very weak theories, i.e. are irrefutable. That is, whatever claim is made against the conspiracy/religion, it can be argued against without logic. Occam's Razor also states that the simplest explanation is usually the right one. Conspiracies are for gullible fools with empty lives and a distrust of reality.
