    HELP!!! Temp. Control

Ok so I jus changed my grow spaces. I made one of those rubbermaid boxes. Turned out real nice. But now it seems that my temp has peaked @ 96.3. With 7 CFL's. The space is 27"L x 18"D x 15"W = 7290 cubic inches and about 4.22 cu. ft. I already have a 4" inline duct fan hooked up to the top, and of course intake. No fan on the intake though. What can I do to decrease the temp at least 10 degrees?

    Any input is greatly apprecieated.

    HELP!!! Temp. Control

Whats the temp of the air you're sucking into the box? Is your intake big enough to allow enough air in? Have you though about adding another intake?

    HELP!!! Temp. Control

Here are a few pics of the setup. Cell phone camera. Not the greatest quality. Whole setup and 4" inline duct exhaust. Not sure cfm, thinkin somewhere along the lines of ..... 35-50... maybe. but im gon go to radio shack and gon get a 85cfm 4.5" computer fan. and mount it right on top of the box. Turn the top fan on during light period and duct fan during dark period?

    What do you think?

    HELP!!! Temp. Control

Sorry mate, what do you mean by top fan and duct fan? I have all my fans running 24/7. Whats the deal with your intake? I couldn't make out where that is.

    HELP!!! Temp. Control

Sorry hudson.... my intake is at bottom left corner. Intake is 3" and exhaust is 4". By top and duct fan i mean the duct (picture) i will run during dark period because there are no light leaks thru it. The top (mounted directly on top of box) I havent bought yet. But its gon be a 85 cfm comp. cooling fan that i will run during light hours because it will leak light real bad. I will cover the top fan during dark hours to keep from hermies, and run duct fan during dark to keep temps ideal.

I will post pics of the 85cfm and its mounting spot later this afternoon.

    HELP!!! Temp. Control

Here are a few pics of the new exhaust fan, in package, and mounted on box. And a pic of the new thermostat reading. My temp went down about 13 degrees. I was hoping for more out of a 85 cfm cooling fan, but eh... oh well. It did good.

Should I make another intake next to the other one?

    HELP!!! Temp. Control

Intake size depends on a lot of factors, but the minimum passive intake size should be twice the area of the active exhaust.

So.. add another intake or make the existing one larger, whichever is most convenient.
