Israel shows abilities for Iran strike

WASHINGTON (AP) â?? U.S. military officials say a big Israeli military exercise was aimed partly at showing Jerusalem's abilities to attack Iranian nuclear facilities.

Two Pentagon officials say that Israel sent dozens of aircraft on a large-scale exercise in the Eastern Mediterranean early this month.

Israel's military is refusing to confirm or deny that the exercise was practice for a strike in Iran.

But one U.S. defense official said the maneuver could be taken as a demonstration to Iran and the international community that Israel is serious about the need to challenge Iran's nuclear program â?? and could be prepared to do so militarily. The U.S. officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about the sensitive subject on the record.

Russia's foreign minister is warning against the use of force on Iran, saying there is no proof it is trying to build nuclear weapons with the program Tehran said is for generating power.

I don't think it's a matter of if Israel will make a strike on Iran but when.

I think they are just asking for trouble...
What Iran (or any other country) does inside its own territory is no one elses business, and no one has the right to intervene.

AND, if Israel attack the Iran first, then it would be Israel who would be starting a war, and so Iran would have all the right to react.

I wonder what other countries like China and Russia thinks about it...

If I was isreal I would do the same thing you can only threaten someone so many times. Iran is trying to be a bully its time to hit the bully in the nose.:rasta::rastasmoke:imp:

I think it is fine to demonstrate your military capability so that your enemies know what they are dealing with, as long as you don't do it as a provokation. If they had run an excercise in the Straits of Hormuz, you might question the judgement, but in the Eastern Mediteranean, it seems like a good idea. More wars start over misunderstanding an enemy's intentions and capabilities than anything else.

Iran keeps talking about wiping Israel off the map, so I think it's best if they observe the proven capability of Isreal to actually do the map wiping before they get any ideas. That way they can go on shooting their mouth off, but maybe think twice about shooting anything else off.
