    Newbie with questions

    hi everybody

I've been reading the forums for a while now and you all seem like a great bunch of folks. I'm going for my recommendation on Saturday for migraines and chronic pain from a car accident. I have a few questions I hope some of you can answer.

After I get my prescription, do I have to get a state ID card and / or a county id card? I've been reading the state and county web sites and I'm a little confused.

I live in Riverside. How much do the id cards cost?

Also does anyone here make tea or tinctures? I can't afford a vaporizer and I don't want to smoke if I can avoid it.

No you don't have to get a state card that shows you are a register patient. It does help a lot, because in the weekends most doctors are gone, so the co-op you go to wont register you because they must register with your doctor but they card will give you your own I.D. # so you don't have to worry about it.

I.D. cards are free in L.A. I don't know about Riverside

When you make tea it most of the time made with the steams (its always good to hold steams atill you get a lot) You Can make butter with the buds and make your own foods with it and get fu$k out. You can go on the web and find out the formual for it. If not pm me.

Cards are NOT necessary! However if you decide not to get one, carry a copy of your doctor's letter with you.

    As for recipes-

International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - Cannabis Recipes

There's gotta be something you can enjoy in there!

So I don't need a county or a state ID card? Should I get one anyway for law enforcement?

From what I've been reading here it looks like the medicinal bud frin co-op's is a lot more expensive than what I've used before. Is it really that much more potent? Is it worth the extra cost?

    Thanks for your help!

On who you are! I likely won't ever need one- I'm a 60 year old grandmotherly type teacher's aide- chances are I'm not going to be suspected of toking! (Plus I trust the local rural gov about as far as I could toss the county courthouse!) Usually when I see the cops it's either a neighbor's domestic violence, or a DARE officer at school! I live quietly and don't cause trouble.

Who are you? Male? Female? What is your race? (Yes, dang it, that still matters! ) Do you drive less than optimally? Dress conservatively? Hit the clubs frequently? Party a lot? And all that jazz! Think about it- how often are you going to be interacting with the cops? Base whether you will need a card on that.

The prices at the clubs are a temporary inconvenience. You can grow now! We don't have clubs out in the boonies (only one was shut down years ago), so I can't tell you how the cannabis is, but the quality most likely will be more consistent than street weed!

I just got my recommendation! I'm so excited! It was pretty easy. They also recommended a company that issues ID cards that is not a government ID card. Anyone know about that?

Anyway, I need to get some more money saved up before I make my first trip to a dispensary. Plus I need to save up for a vaporizer.

To answer your questions Granny, I'm middle aged caucasion. I'm about as far from being a "police magnet" as you can get. Maybe I'll just skip the whole ID card thing if I don't need it.

Enjoy that first "paranoia free" joint/ firecracker/bhang- whatever.

There is another medical site you might enjoy- treating yourself .com (all one word). A somewhat older crowd than here, so you might feel at home there, too. I enjoy both sites for different reasons.

The card is likely a dispensary card- usually they set you back a few bucks and are good only at that dispensary. But it is better than nothing! I just keep a 1/2 sized photocopy of my rec stashed deep in the bottom of my huge purse.

Tincture, man, tincture. Check out Master Wu's Green Dragon thread in the Concentrates subforum. Great stuff. Butter's good too. There's reams of information on this forum & various other marijuana forums - of course you have to wade through a fair bit of junk to find it...
