Because youre yes using the secret, but unconsciously and only against yourself. You even says:

So, obviously, things must go wrong for you. If you think that everything will go wrong in the worst way, and if you believe in it with your deepest feelings, than of course it will be so.
And the mere fact you give credit of the Murpheys law shows the validity of the Law of attraction... your pessimism attracts the Murpheys law. And it validates your pessimism. Its a snowball effect...

The secret does not work for the shallow words thought repeatedly, as people thinks. Just thinking "i will become rich" several times each day wont make you rich. The secret works only for our sincerest and deepest feelings and beliefs. Because only they are strong, deep enough to influence things. If you tried it but was sure that it wouldnt work, then it just couldnt work.

I spent years as a child being the most happy, optimistic kid most people had ever seen. Only through years of getting fucked over did I become so pessimistic in the first place. Pessimism did not start any of this, it's a result of my life.

Also I think most people aren't even aware that "The Law of Attraction" is a fallacious, misleading term that gives scientific connotations to the theory where none exist. It is not a scientific law, and is in fact based in ancient hinduism. It's nothing but a misleadingly scientific-sounding name used to replace the term "Karma". The purporters of the theory don't have a scientific leg to stand on, and are advocating nothing more than a several-thousand year old theory that's been repackaged and sold as new. Sorry, I know I'm excessively pessimistic sometimes, but years of nothing but pain and isolation can do that to a person.

Coelho, didn't you recently finish a 12-year degree in physics? That being said, do you know of anything in conventional or experimental physics that would support the Law of Attraction? I'm absolutely open to accepting this theory if there's some solid evidence to back it up. What I've been seeing, though, is a lot of people enthusiastically embracing it because of how great it sounds, without actualy verrifying the "facts" through evidence. I've always maintained that scepticism is actually the most open-minded way of thinking, because being a true sceptic means having a willingness to reject your own preconceptions as much as others'.
