Are all bannings now permanent? It seems that a few good members, not just the underage crowd or the crazy ones, have been gone for quite some time. Just wondering.

No they're not....only a few go directly into a perm which is based on either their actions or age.

There are a very few things that will get a member permanently removed from the site:

-Repeated spamming/sales, and we always give warnings and short bans first
-Underage posters who are notified that their ban will lift when they turn 18
-Threats of violence against other members or mod staff
-Any MOM sales- this is an INSTANT permanent ban since that is the #1 biggest taboo here
-Really outrageous badmouthing of this site on other sites. I think the members who you are referencing fall into that category, and ALL of them were given more than ample warning that it was not only quite poor form, but would result in them being unwelcome here ever again.

Everyone should use common sense, as well as be familiar with our site rules, which are stricter than other similar forums because of our status as a medical site and our location on US soil. The rules were designed to protect the MEMBERS, not just the site.
