    Sun needed?

when counting how many hours of sun a plant need, like 18/6 or so, those it still count as a sun hour if the sun doesn't hit them directly, but it isn't totally dark?

They need at least a good 6+ hours of direct sunlight per day for best results. Cloudy days are fine, as long as there aren't too many of them.

When outdoors, the plant doesn't need to be in the direct sun all day long. It needs a certain amount of direct sun to stay alive, but after you reach that point its just a matter of "the more sun it gets, the more buds you get". Just make sure it gets at least around 4 hours direct, I'd say, and more if possible... as much as you can give it.

As far as nature's "hints" to the plant regarding when to start flowering (when the hours of daylight get shorter at the end of the summer), even indirect sunlight still "counts" as a sun hour in terms of the plant's natural clock that tells it when to start flowering. In other words, if the plant is getting enough sun to keep it alive, mother nature will take care of telling it when to start flowering. You don't have to worry about the precise timing that indoor growers worry about. Nature takes care of that for you outside. Just make sure it actually is dark where your plant is when it is dark outside... don't have it under a street light or something.

    Did that answer your question?
