Well... the fresh cannabis has a small amount of THC (the substance that makes you high), and a large amount of THCA (which does NOT makes you high).
With the passing of the time, or by heating, the THCA is transformed in THC, thus making your weed more potent.
So, you can smoke/eat the fresh weed, but it is far weaker than if it were properly dried.
In fact, it is not the drying of it that makes it more potent. Is the amount of time between the harvest and the smoking that makes the difference.
But if you want to smoke so badly, wrap your weed in tinfoil, and put it into an oven at 325F for some 10 minutes (or more... until it dry completly). After it, the weed will be as potent as it can be.
