    Outdoor vs Indoor growth

I know there is a crap ton of debate of over which is superior, but i was just curious about one aspect. Do outdoor plants generally grow a lot faster than indoor plants or no?? I don't really even have a good comparison, as my indoor set-up was quite sub-par, but i had really slow growth, but as soon as i moved everything outside, they exploded. (not literally, but ya know)

I've heard that it is nearly impossible to replicate the energy the sun provides for a plant with indoor lighting. Growing indoors is a trade-off... you lose that free source of amazing amounts of light energy, but you gain superior control over pests and security.

Having a strong, indoor gardening specific lighting system s important, if you want to even begin to approach the type of growth the sun's light will provide. Cannabis will suck up every bit of light you can throw at it.

but why do they say to use only a 600watt in a 4x4 area if they can use every but we put above em?

You can only harvest once outdoors but up to 6 times in a year indoors. There is no comparison for the sun and yes plants should have the ability to get larger outside but they do have longer to veg. Indoors off a more controlled environment. Personally, I like harvesting 6 times a year, but then again, I can't grow outside because of security reasons.

it depends on the factors of the outdoor grow.

For example; my buddy is growing outdoors but with 50 degree weather, his plants are barely a foot tall and mine are almost done harvesting in 3 months time! (mine are indoor)

Yeah, pretty much what i was figuring, it was just interesting to see how quickly they grew outdoors. On that, does anyone have any ballpark figures for growth rates, indoor vs outdoor, just curious??

Growth rates depend on the environment and the strain etc

if you grow a fast strain in ideal conditions outdoors, it would be the same.

depends on temperature, how many cloudy days, soil, etc

    lots of factors.

Indoor is nice because you can control all the factors. (for the most part)

While lots of this is true, i have found that some things are easier to control when you put them in the hands of mother nature. Mites for instance i think are easier to control outside. I have many spiders, countless flies, and other critters poaching would be sap suckers. Ladybugs love to fly in outdoor cannabis gardens.
The reason mites can flourish indoors is because they don't have many, if any natural predators inside. Outside they are just part of the food chain.
Also it is possible to have multiple harvests outside. All you need is a black tarp to manipulate the light, twice a day, everyday. It is possible to have a perpetual harvest outdoors all summer, harvesting a few girls every few weeks.
As far as growing those super tight, dense, marble nuggets, inddors can't be beat!
