smoking cannabis - A matter of learning?
Hello, I have a question regarding cannabis use
my main contact with cannabis was in college 10 years ago, so I'm very unexperienced. Due to a panic attack I had in the past after smoking, recently the few times I smoked, I was fearful of having a bad experience and while high I felt an urge to concentrate "outside" myself (talking, eating, walking, etc) otherwise I would burst in anxiety.
My question is if smoking pot is a matter of learning / dealing with its effects and with time the user learns to overcome this kind of reaction, or is it something more complex?

you definitely get used to it. takes awhile before youre comfortable and you realize that its not the whole world that has changed, just you. i know people who thought they lost their legs when they first started getting stoned and people who used to go completely silent for hours... after smoking for a bit, they all got used to it and can now interact completely fine with everyone else.
take it slow and try to ease yourself into it and you should be fine.

I am glad to hear that you aren't discouraged from having some difficulties in the past. Spoof and Storm are very much right. The relationship between cannabis and consumer is a very complicated one. Give and take, love and hate (not much hate actually now that I think about it). Haha. Everyone responds differently to smoking marijuana. Everything from your diet, daily activity, environment, and medical history plays a role in how you react to cannabis. For me personally, it IS something that, if used in the wrong setting, will produce acute anxiety and related symptoms. I have been smoking for almost a decade now, so I have managed to quell those sensations with deep thought and relaxation. One thing that I, and most people I know, don't have the option to do is KNOW what strain we are smoking all the time. One of the many benefits of having dispensaries, is the knowledge of product that comes along with it. The more you know about the particular genetics of the strain you are medicating with, the better chance you have of finding the strain that works best for you. Hope you are getting some useful info. This site is a goldmine!!
