Is it all worth it in the end?

So I wanna start this thread off by saying that I do smoke weed, not on the regular, but on occasion. I also support the legalization, medical use, and other associated things. What my question boils down to, is whether it is really worth it to smoke weed, with all of the given consequences, pitfalls, societal attitudes towards it, and the overall outcome of living life as a weed smoker? I mean, down the road, people have to worry about a job, a family, and other things that it seems weed would get in the way of. Now I don't support the stereotypical lifestyle of a good educated, wealthy, familyman, but I just wanna know what u guys feel about the matter? Does it affect your life to the point where you have changed for the worse, has it resulted in negative consequences, lost relationships, etc.? And those of you who smoke it on the regular, how do you fit it in to your lifestyle?

I know this is kind of a long thread, but I feel it is an important thing to talk about, as people get into things without seeing the end result or consequences. Any feedback would be nice. Thanks.

I have to hide it as much as possible from the narrow-minded dimwits I call my "family and friends"

I suppose it's made some of us grow apart; the difference in lifestyles. Then again, I've grown apart from most of the pro-cannabis friends too... so I can't really blame any lost friendships solely on weed.

I've never regretted using it for both medicinal and recreational reasons.

I'm an extremely peaceful person, but if backed into a corner with no other options but decades in prison... wow... I'd explode... which scares me a lot sometimes, especially when it comes to growing it. I'm not really concerned with getting caught posessing or using, I'm confident that my good nature will lessen any punishment given, I've gotten out of worse things with just a smile.

But growing it... yes I'd say that it is definitely worth any risk, I stake my life on it.

There were two times that I truly look back on my life and wonder, "What if I had not let this into my life? Where would I be?"

Time #1: I was arrested for smoking marijuana

Time #2: I was arrested for smoking marijuana

Both times I was alone, seated, and not in a public place. :wtf: Sad...

Although there may be complications for people that consume cannabis on a regular basis, hopefully the individual has carefully weighed those against the positives they receive from it. As for societal views on cannabis? Personally, I have never based any of my major life descisions on what society views as "proper," so I'm not sure how to answer that. Obviously, if an adult is having a problem balancing their use of marijuana and their personal or family life, then something should be done. However, I know many educated men, who are loving fathers, dedicated husbands, and have incorporated cannabis into their lives for decades.

To me, that is the equivalent of saying, "living a life as an anti-anxiety/seizure/nausea medication taker."

Everyone should always weigh out the pro's and con's of their situation to ensure they are maximizing their ability to feel healthy. Cannabis can be a tremendously effective tool for battling numerous chronic symptoms. It is not the answer... it is not a cure... it is only an option.
Yes, I incorporate it into my daily life... well... because it's what works for me. As for the constant threat of legal repercussions... yep... scares the shit out of me.

So, all in all... is the juice worth the squeeze??
Have you ever tasted the juice?

the number 1 major negative: being high =/= getting girls

i notice that smoking pretty much causes me to lose motivation and tact for any situation that might precipitate a necessity for suaveness or romance. on a couple of occasions i've found myself smacking my forehead for being "such a damn stupid stoned jerk that i cant even romance this girl," and thats not a good feeling/

    It's worth it.
The anxiety that I treat with cannabis used to affect my whole existence- relationships, work, social life, even my financial stability since I am very impulsive when I am anxious.
I can't imagine going back to that sort of life.

Is it all worth it in the end?

When I was 3, another child tried to murder me by bludgeoning me with a hammer. I was left with frequent migraines, cluster headaches and scars that ache.

At age 19, I discovered that cannabis eliminated (or greatly reduced) the head aches and migraines. ! That was 40+ years ago.

I did attempt to "go without" for about 3 (hellish) years because of my job- even my boss was begging me to see a doctor. I went- got tested- zilch! I "just" have migraines. I made my appointment to get "California legal" that week! (Have you read the side effects for Imitrex? I'll stick to my SAFE herbal remedy, thank you!) From the time that my 1st crop came in, I have been migraine free!

I work in Special Education- a demanding and high stress field. Cannabis use for the last 40 years has shaped my nature- I am calm, laid-back and loving. There are worse ways to be! Cannabis enables me, not only to work pain free, but just to work! With cannabis, I think of innovative ways to present the same old lessons and am able to "let the day go" every night. Burn-out is a big problem in my field- I'm still going strong after many years.

For my hubby, it makes the difference of really needing a cane to get up and walk, or just being a bit achy. He needs to eat it for the best effect, smoking helps only a little. The old fool hates going to see the doctor, so he is undiagnosed- but it's like fibro, bad aching all over. Luckily for him, I make killer brownies and spice cakes. He's also a chronic depressive. When he has two doses a day, he's pretty well normal. Sure makes both our lives easier when he has cannabis!

Incidentally, our two adult sons live with us- neither of them uses cannabis (or tobacco, or booze)- they have no medical need. Well, to be absolutely honest, one used once when he had a rare migraine- it worked.

OK, that's what cannabis does for my family.

And in some alternative, "pot-less" universe? I see two old disabled people constantly at each other's throats because of pain (that is providing a suicide or two didn't occur before then), alcoholic (like our parents), living on SSI and food stamps in a tiny trailer in a speed freak infested trailer park. And our "boys" avoiding all contact if possible.

I grew up with alcoholics. This is the main reason why I hardly ever drink. I'll have a beer once in a blue moon, but getting drunk and smoking weed are 2 different things and I really wish people would understand that. Being drunk is much different than weed and I can attest for that. You do very stupid and loud, sometimes violent shit when you are drunk. When I'm high, I just relax and play video games and clean. I love cleaning high!

But there is far more acceptance of cannabis now in the US. It's not the same as the Canadian acceptance level though, but the cops will just take your weed away where I live, as long as its just personal. If you have more than 2 bags, than you are going to jail for dealing.

I know there is so much ridiculous controversy about a plant. A fucking plant!!! Making a plant illegal is a big fucking joke to me, and it is the same thing as saying "block the sun! it causes cancer!!"

My parents know I smoke and they know I am not giving it up.

For me cannabis has helped me not to be anti social. Before I started smoking weed on a regular basis I use to get real nervous in large groups of people, now it isn't such a big deal. So far for me it has helped improve my life in many ways. Not to even mention how much stress it relieves.
