The biggest thing I do for resin production is 3 days of complete darkness before chopping down.

This practice sends the plant into panic mode ( so to say) and just causes all the resin to come out to protect the hopefully not-existent seeds from the winter. (Note this some of what I have read about what happens and put into practice). I do notice that they are much more sticky when they come out of the closet. Another plus to this practice is no light means no photosynthesis= lesson chlorophyil = better taste. What I mean is I do notice the plant is a much lighter green when done.
