which car to get?
Either of those cars is an excellent choice. I've driven Hondas/Acuras for many years and never had a thing go wrong with any one of them, but we're also had Toyota/Lexuses, too, and they're quite reliable as well. Not quite as infallibly reliable as Hondas, we've found, but still very good.
I like the idea of takings Mississippi Steve's suggestion and looking at which one might be more cost-efficient in other ways. Insurance costs. Fuel costs and mileage. Tire replacement, even, and routine maintenance prices. Perhaps you could consider safety ratings, too. When they're evenly matched automobiles, I often find that a quick review of the Consumer Reports or Edmunds reviews helps me make my final decision.
I've had six Hondas over the years and three Toyotas. One of the disadvantages of Hondas--and there are precious few but this is one of them that always stands out to me in comparison to other makes--is that Honda doesn't do quite as good a job of insulating its cars against road noise as Toyota does. You get a good degree more road noise and road movement in a Honda than a Toyota, especially in the smaller models. If you're interested in a quieter, smoother ride, test drive them both and see for yourself whether this is true.\"That best portion of a good man\'s life: his little, nameless, unremembered acts of kindness and love.\"
