    which car to get?

Ok, my gf is trying to decide which car to buy.
It's between a bran new white Civic EX 4 door or..
a bran new white Toyota Corolla S 4 door.

Either of them will get tinted windows and most likely 17'' rims.
    and both are a/t.

Check with your insurance agent to see which gets the best rates, and don't waste your money on window tint... thats a big red flag to cops as well as the oversized rims. If you want to drive "cop candy" that your choice, but for myself, I certainly don't want to draw *that* kind of attention. FWIW, here in Mississippi, you can't get an inspection sticker if you have other than factory glass or tint on your windows.

this might be an easy one for me.

I would go Honda any day of the week. What ever model you go with, make sure it is a hybrid.. save TONS at the pump..

Thanks Ill, I would have to agree with you, civis hybrid would be cool. It's free to her so it's whatever she wants.

Miss, it's not going to be like that. The tint is for the sun, not to hide activity so it wont be overdone. The rims will be simple, but nicer then factory and not oversized, just fitting with the car which will be evaluated at the time. I just wanted your oppionion of type/quality man..

Either of those cars is an excellent choice. I've driven Hondas/Acuras for many years and never had a thing go wrong with any one of them, but we're also had Toyota/Lexuses, too, and they're quite reliable as well. Not quite as infallibly reliable as Hondas, we've found, but still very good.

I like the idea of takings Mississippi Steve's suggestion and looking at which one might be more cost-efficient in other ways. Insurance costs. Fuel costs and mileage. Tire replacement, even, and routine maintenance prices. Perhaps you could consider safety ratings, too. When they're evenly matched automobiles, I often find that a quick review of the Consumer Reports or Edmunds reviews helps me make my final decision.

I've had six Hondas over the years and three Toyotas. One of the disadvantages of Hondas--and there are precious few but this is one of them that always stands out to me in comparison to other makes--is that Honda doesn't do quite as good a job of insulating its cars against road noise as Toyota does. You get a good degree more road noise and road movement in a Honda than a Toyota, especially in the smaller models. If you're interested in a quieter, smoother ride, test drive them both and see for yourself whether this is true.

Look at the gas mileage. Both of those are great cars with excellent re-sale value. My tenant has the S and it's pretty sweet, but the air dams leave NO ground clearance and if you ever have to take your car somewhere with uneven or dirt roads... watch out. Personally, I prefer Hondas (well, I REALLY prefer VWs but... you look at a Jetta yet?). They feel just a little lighter and zippier. Toyotas are pretty powerful once you get into a larger engine size, but the trade-off on a big engine is $$$ on gas.

I also strongly recommend against ANY mods, however tasteful, if you will ever be carrying weed with you. I like tint and rims as much as the next person- I used to have a stunning white Jetta with dark tint and white 7-spoke 17" low-profile wheels... REALLY nice looking ride... REALLY got the cop sticking his whole head in the window for sniffage more often than I had expected, and I didn't even smoke herb back then. Oh- and they eventually got stolen, causing significant body damage to the vehicle. Just FYI.

Thanks for all the replys, gas milage is pretty much the same for both, comsumer reports say both rock, but civic has a small hand over the corolla, and I didn't like it's interior. Insurance is the same for either of them, it's within $10-20.

We did check out the jetta's, but not what she was looking for I guess.

if you get either of those, don't turn it into rice... seriously. Rims on non-performance vehicles are just laughable...
