ebb n flow or nft ?

hi all ive been growing 4 nearly a year now .and have allways grown full size plants .first i used soil and now i use rw with a mj 1000 on a drip system .the thing is when i look at the grow the plants r so big all i see is lots of wasted light .so i need a new set up .i no all about ebb n flow .just wondering if nft is a better yeilding system.going 2 keep rockwool cubes tight and just grow clones .(ak47 serious seeds)

    thanks

ebb n flow or nft ?

The thing that I REALLY like about NFT over ebb n flow is the 'washing' action of flowing water. I'll explain.

With ebb n flow, when the tray floods, particulate matter (dead leaves and roots, sloughed-off cells, bits of media, etc.) are simply wetted; if they are stuck to anything, they don't really get a chance to move, and for the most part aren't very mobile. I like my dirt to be mobile, lol! With NFT, the constant flow not only oxygenates your nute solution, making the ferts more available to the roots, but any dead shit that is in there flows downhill along with the water and will eventually get caught on the pump filter. You have to clean the pump filter more often, but IMHO that is a very easy tradeoff to make for a diminished chance of root rot!

To summarize- if I were to keep larger plants in a hydro system for a longer time, I would choose vertical NFT cascading over hydroton pebbles over any other system. DWC is appropriate for very large plants, but if you like to run many plants, the maintenance can add up.
I made a thread in the grow logs section showing my contianerized NFT- it's called stinky kinda likes the darkside- there's some pics of a system that I would say is good to flower plants that will finish up to 2 feet tall.

I have grown with a NFT system and all i can say is i had very good yeilds, I wish I could still grow with NFT but its not possible for me at this moment in time.
Sorry I can't give you a comparison as i have not grew with the ebb and flow technique.
    Good luck.
