    alternatives to butane lighters?

I'm over tasting the butane in my smoke. I've heard of a wand that you plug into the wall outlet and it heats up so that you just touch the herb and it burns without the smell. Has anyone used these? Are there any portable ones? Thanks.

soldering irons are what you speak of, pretty much anyways, because you plug it into the wall and it gets hot as well. But the heat wands that are made of glass are cool too, you just heat the end with a blowtorch or something, and then you light your bowl, its a rather simple process.

I use matches with joints to avoid the butane sometimes. But I mean they probably give off something of their own themselves.

    Stay high

The best tasting "smoke" is in a vaporizer. Even a lightbulb vape taste superb if you clean out the bulb really well first. Just break away all the resin/glue stuff on the end first too.

If taste is what I'm going for, then either a joint or a lightbulb vape is the best. I don't like the taste of pipes as much... even water pipes to be honest. Maybe it is because of the butane... I don't know.

I think the bad taste in water pipes is def from butane, when i used a wand this morning at my friends the product tasted so much better! I am still looking for better alternatives though... Thanks for the feedback.

when lighting a good cigar, most will either use matches or the spanish cedar that comes around some of them as a light. Some butane on the market are better then others. Go to a NICE cigar shop and check them out.
