Have you tried combining a heavy load of salt with the alcohol? I've had some gnarly gnarly bongs clean up really well with Formula 420 or something like that. I later found that I could make it myself with 90+% iso alcohol, salt, and some lemon or lime juice. Getting a pipe cleaner or some type of coat hanger modified with a scrubbing device could help.
