As far as being dom/res, that would be in the breeder's eye. That trait would be unique to the strain especially when discusssing hybrids. When selecting cantidates for breeding programs growers look for healthy characteristics or traits that will be benifical to the enviroment in which the plant will grow. An example would be AK that has two phenos, one tall and one short. A grower may be looking for the plant to have the smell, high, or flavor but need to get a plant that won't grow too tall. Someone else working the same strain might want the sativa influence to be prominant and looks for the taller plants to capture the sat characteristics.
