    newbie with many questions

My daughter has suffered chronic migraines for about 4 yrs and recently found that marijuana helps. She registered for and recieved a medical marijuana card. She wants to designate me as her grower so that she can get a supply without having to pay so much. I have no idea what is involved in getting the proper registration so that i can legally do this for her. Also, i don't know where to get seeds and if there are certain strains that would be better for me to grow. Is there an FAQ or good source of information that i can read to know how to proceed? BTW.. i'm in Oregon.

thanks for any help out there!

State of Oregon: Oregon Medical Marijuana Program (OMMP)

    From the FAQs-
8)Do I have to tell the OMMP if I change my mailing address, add or remove a designated primary caregiver, person responsible for my grow site, or change my my grow site address?

The answer to all these questions is â??yesâ?ť. You are required to tell the OMMP in writing of any such changes within 30 days of the change. The OMMP does not accept changes of information over the telephone. The OMMP only accepts written changes about the patientâ??s address, designated primary caregiver, person responsible for a grow site, or grow site from the registered patient. You may send your changes to the OMMP by mail, or in person. If you make a change after your registry identification card has been issued all cards will be deemed expired and must be returned to the department within seven (7) calendar days. Upon receipt of the expired cards the department will issue new cards based on the changes made to your registry application.

I also have migraines and cannabis is wonderful! Tell her indicas work best for me. Start reading the grow forums and believe anything stinkyattic says about growing! - Granny:hippy:

i'm a little confused.. it seems to be a catch-22. If she sends a letter tell OMMP that she's changing growers what does she do until my first harvest? I can't legally grow until they get the letter but it sounds like when they do, they immediately change her file and send a new card. Can she still get supply from her current grower until my harvest is ready?

what is Indicas? Is it a type or species of marijuana? It seems there are a LOT of types and i'm wondering how to identify the best for her and where to get seeds.

thanks for the reply... i really appreciate the guidance. I grew 'pot' about 30 yrs ago for my own 'medication' but a lot has changed! I can't believe how much she has to pay for an ounce!!

Indica or Sativa? Weed (Cannabis) Growing Guide:

Hopefully, that link helps you figure out what indicas and sativas are. Basically, indica is more of a sleepy-body type high and is good for pain relief. Usually these are your Purple and Kush varieties. Here's a nice lil list that's being compiled to show exactly which strains are which:

i have a question that has been in my mind for ever...
someone told me if you put a plastic bag around your plant it will grow faster because the light will be magnified and it will be much hotter ???

Second, the answer is mostly "No". The warmth will help the plant to grow is cooler climates, but can cook a plant in hotter ones. It does not "magnify the light", it just holds in the heat and makes a solar oven or green house. Since you are in a maritime climate, it might be OK for you.

Also there is the problem of moisture- leading to mildew and mold. Not good. And the build up of oxygen isn't good either. You would have to remove the bag frequently to avoid these problems.

Now if you had it set up so you could easily remove the bag during sunny hours and replace it at night, then it might be worth it. It would act as a mini-greenhouse.

I used to live on the Pacific coast and everyone marveled at my tomatoes. I grew them next to the south wall of a garage. I took 2 x 4s and used them to make a triangle against the garage and tacked clear plastic over it. The garage acted as a heat reservoir and kept the greenhouse warm late into the night. The tomatoes LOVED it. I imagine cannabis would love it, too. (One of these days, I gotta do that...)
