    topping question problem

    Hi All,

So I planted some white widow in my greenhouse in Feb. The greenhouse is 6x4x8. I picked WW cause they are suppose to be a medium height grower. Well here we are early June and they are hitting the roof. They are starting signs of begining to bud and I have been feeding the FF Big Bloom and Open Sesame for about 3-4 weeks now. So Obviously I could not leave it as is so I topped them cutting about 1-2 feet. Did I totally screw up my grow? I know I should have topped earlier but didn't expect the to grow so damn tall.

    Help!:wtf:

This will lower the amount of bud you woulda got and now those lower branches are gonna be the bud producers now "not the large branchs you had to suport and produce bud". Long as you still have some good bud sights you should be fine. Goto member they can sometimes double in size when they go into bud but most will slow down and put the growth into bud production and wont grow much more taller.. But yeah topping when going into flower is not a good idea and this also might "shock" your plants. :rastasmoke:

i'm no expert man but i'd say no, you didn't totally screw things up.
also, not knowing what lattitude you're at, i'd say it's still too early for flower anyway so they should have time to recover
hopefully, you cut just above a node and if so, you will get 2 stems growing, if i'm right and it's still a month or more away from flowering, you should end up with 2 colas instead of 1

that being said, it's strain dependent whether that'll be a good thing or not, some strains need to be topped to achieve thier full potential.
some strains will give you 2 colas but they will equal in mass what the original 1 cola would have given you

if you do a search on this site for white widow you will find many threads, maybe the info you need will be in one of them or one of the posters might know more.

btw, did you take cuttings from the part you chopped?
if not, you really need to spend some time learning how to clone, it's not that hard man.

anyway, good luck, take some pics, we all like pics

Thanks. I just didn't have a choice the metal rod that runs across at the greenhouse's peak was actually burning them and putting them out in the open just isn't an option.

Ah shit I'm the real Bozo it never even entered my fuzzy little brain to clone them! I'm around the 34th lat sometimes when I am real lucky weatherwise I can get a second harvest because they'll start budding in June.

Thanks. Truthfully I'm kinda paranoid about pixs

LOL, i relate man, i try to be as circumspect as possible.

the way i see it now though is, the only way this can come back to bight me in the ass is if i get busted some other way, then maybe they find this and use it as evidence.

frankly, LEO just doesn't have the time and manpower to monitor every cannabis forum in hopes of busting people.
also, i'm a small time guy growing to feed my head not a cash cropper which is what they really want.
all in all, as long as i don't get busted for something else, or because i'm stupid or loose lipped with people that know where my house is, i think i'm safe enough.

to give you an idea of my paranoia, i plan on buying seeds this month and i'm not gonna do it until i rent an anonymous PO box ($65.00USD for a year with 24\7 access) and a pre-paid Visa.

anyway, i relate. if you run into problems though, it'll be a lot easier to help you if people can actually see the problem

    good luck

It was prolly just preflowers that you saw, not the actual flowering stage.

LOL! Technically I should be okay I have a doc rec and I keep my grow to only six plants which is what I am "allowed" to grow so it really is only the feds and I can not imagine they would care about a dumpy middle aged lady but then again leo has been known to do some mighty strange things (G)

I buy my seeds at Christmas time I figure with all the postal traffic not to mention its not your typical buying time that its safer. I also use a Wal-Mart money order bought with a prepaid Visa....but honestly I am not all that paranoid(VBG)

So if they were preflowers then I probably didn't screw things up too badly and that they will be back to where they were in a couple of weeks. Right now I am fretting over the heat wave we have been having I may have to put some shade cloths over the GH if this keeps up 100+ is way too hot for my girls.
