DP Blueberry from Seed to Perpetual harvest

    Thanks for stopping by.

Picked up some Dutch Passion Blueberry. If I remember correctly e told me it was DJ Short version in a Dutch Passion package...whatever that means. $120 CDN for 10 seeds.

I will post pics as things go along and try to use this both as a log and a learning tool.

Been bagseeding it now for a year working with moms and clones putting out a harvest every 6 weeks.

Veg will be done on tables that I have built and are under Sunblaster T5's. Moms are kept in a different space under the same T5's. I will post more on that as that stage comes into play.

Today was seed germination and they went directly into the medium housed in small propagations trays. Seeds were sowed point down approx 1/4 inch into the substrate. The substrate was misted with R/O water with a PH of 7.0.

The trays were covered with plastic wrap to create a mini greenhouse. The tray was put now into a dark place where temp is appox 78F.

    See you later...
    This is the germination stage.

    Flower under 2 x 400HPS.
    The space is 4w x 4h x 8L
vented with a 340CFM fan. Passive intake. Vent to outside. Odorsock and zero smell. normal temps of 76F and 52%RH. nightime cools off to 64F. Soil is organic peat mix with perlite at 1 bag soil : 2/3 bag perlite. Water is tap at nice PH of 7.0.

Nothing yet....hehe...should be a few days.
Temps in the germination area are steady at 78F. humididty at around 50%RH.
Gave a light misting this morning and re-covered with the plastic wrap.

Here are some pics of the germination process. I used to use the paper towel method however thought this way would be less intrusive and stressful to them and also minimizes the risk of damaging the tap root.

1./ The seeds and prop tray

2./ Poking a hole with a twist tie about 1/4" deep

3./ Using tweezers to sow the seed, pointy side down

4./ Spraying the substrate with R/O water

5./ Covering the tray with plastic wrap to create a makeshift greenhouse.

See ya'll in a couple of days when they poke through.

    Ciao for now.

    thanks for the pics

i've had terrific results germinating my seeds in rockwool starter cubes and it's easy as shit.
i pre-soak the rockwool cubes in a weak vitamin B1 solution (i use ThriveAlive B1 Red)
then i put 1 seed into each cube (i use a toothpic to poke it down to about 1\2 inch
then i pinch it closed where i put the seed in, put my dome over the top and, voila, 3 - 4 days later i have seedlings.
i get close to 100% germ rate and the rockwool is good transplanting to hydro or dirt and it adds a little stability to the plant also.

i used to use rockwool for my clones as well but they didn't take so good this year so i built a cloner that, so far, is working like a dream, it's running about 95% success so i'm lovin' it.

i don't know if you've already investigated the rockwool option or not so i thought i'd offer the info to you and anyone else that might be reading (the other noobs like me)

    anyway, thanks again for sharing

I did consider the rockwool option, I actually have them soaking for the next set of clippings.
After reading from several information sources, seed banks, forums, grow guides etc, I determined that the most "natural" way is sowing directly to the substrate.

Should my results be less than expected, I have only paid for a lesson learned and will revert back to the rockwool option.

Nothing yet. I'm like a kid at xmas....
Gave a light misting and recovered with the plastic wrap.
    Temps 76F RH is 55%.

Should these be under my T5's?

I thought that dark was the place to be while germinating. In nature, there are no 5 days of darkness...the seed would need some light to aspire to grow towards..any thoughts.
