I wish to eat what the land I live on can produce, not what canbe imported. I don't want food that comes from 1000's of miles away.

Anyways I feel I can accomplish this, and that I can be far more happy with my life. I am 18, and I wish to live a life closer to nature.

Currently I work at a dead end job for UPS. I just need some money so I can build my land. The food I produce will probably be sold to local markets for money as well. Along with w/e I produce.

I feel that I am wise enough to choose not to go to college but yet, at the same time I really want to. I might go there for agriculture or something of that nature.

Anyways, I was wondering if any of you knew farmers, or people who went from the urban life to, a more rural life(I think that is the right word). Any incite would be greatly appreciated.

Living among nature is an amazingly different and rewarding lifestyle. I've gone up north to various cabins we've rented/visited/lived at with friends and family alike--every year for my entire life. Whether it be days, weeks, or months..there's just nothing like it. I love the north woods.

I hope to do what you're considering one day. You should really consider at least giving college a chance. You might like it more than you think. There's always after college. Having the opportunity to experience something like college isn't you want to completely disregard.

Still, I feel you man. If I had tons of money, I'd do exactly what you want to. Getting a house on a lake (preferably fairly secluded) is ideal. Just kicking back on your dock, looking up at the night sky. Beer to your left, bowl to your right. Ahhh, good times. Next weekend--first visit of to our cabin of the summer. Can't wait.
